Red Dot Corporation, the leading producer of premium mobile HVAC units and components for heavy-duty commercial and military vehicles, is recruiting for the following position: Processing Technician
The Processing Technician is responsible for supporting all Injection Molding operations, including machine setup, process adjustments, troubleshooting, material handling, and quality verification. This role ensures that molds, auxiliary equipment, and processes run efficiently, safely, and in accordance with established standards. The ideal candidate has 2+ years of hands-on experience in injection molding and strong technical understanding of molding processes.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, start up, and optimize injection molding processes to ensure consistent part quality and efficient cycle times.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting on molding machines, tooling, dryers, and auxiliary equipment.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to develop, validate, and document new molding processes.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to scrap reduction, cycle time optimization, and equipment efficiency.
- Perform mold changes, adjustments, and in-press repairs as needed.
- Maintain accurate process documentation including setup sheets, troubleshooting logs, and material usage records.
- Support cross-functional teams in resolving quality issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and training to Processing Technicians and Machine Operators.
- Assist with preventive maintenance planning and communication with Maintenance as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all safety procedures, lockout/tagout, and PPE requirements.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training in plastics, tooling, or industrial manufacturing preferred.
- 2+ years of injection molding experience.
- Strong understanding of mold setup, process troubleshooting, scientific molding concepts, and auxiliary equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and technical specifications.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and automation.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and support others in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working closely with Manufacturing or Process Engineers.
- Knowledge of material drying, blending, and handling systems.
