Position Summary

Are you a creative storyteller who believes in building brands and driving real-world impact? We are looking for a passionate, creative, and ambitious Marketing Intern / Content Creator who wants to make a real impact inside a fast-growing recycling company. This role is more than just designing graphics, it’s about helping shape the public perception of sustainability, showing our community what metal recycling looks like behind the scenes, and telling the story of how we serve households, contractors, and businesses every day.

You’ll be hands-on in the yard capturing content, designing marketing collateral that represents our brand, analyzing monthly performance metrics, and bringing fresh, innovative ideas that align with our business goals. Key Responsibilities

Content Creation & Social Media

  • Develop content for Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn tailored to our customer segments: households/individuals, tradespeople/contractors, and businesses.
  • Design social media posts, Instagram Stories/Reels, Facebook updates, LinkedIn content—each aligned with platform best-practices.
  • Take photos and shoot video in the yard (on-site), capturing day-to-day operations, team culture, customers in action, and special events.
  • Perform basic video editing using CapCut (or similar tool) to create reels or short clips.
  • Assist in building and maintaining the monthly content calendar—plan ahead, execute timely posts.
  • Support scheduling/posting of content across platforms, ensuring consistency and brand voice.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Track monthly performance metrics for each social media platform (engagement, reach, follower growth, top content, conversions).
  • Prepare a monthly analytics report with findings, insights, successes, and areas for = improvement.
  • Based on data, propose actionable recommendations and creative ideas that align with company goals (growth, community engagement, sustainability awareness).

Branding & Collateral Development

  • Design printed collateral: rack cards, flyers, business cards, presentations, brochures, banners.
  • Design merchandise and swag: t-shirts, hats, stickers, banners, etc.
  • Ensure brand consistency across all digital and print materials (colors, fonts, voice, imagery).
  • Work with the team to ensure all visual assets support the company’s mission and values (empowerment, transparency, sustainability).

Project Support & Collaboration

  • Meet weekly with the marketing & business development team to review trends, discuss needs, share content ideas, and set priorities.
  • Proactively bring creative ideas, concepts, and designs that support SPORC’s business goals (e.g., growing individual customer visits, strengthening contractor relationships, boosting brand visibility in the B2B space).
  • Stay up-to-date on social media trends, platform changes, design trends, and content formats.
  • Support event marketing when needed: capture content, create recap posts, assist with signage/design.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficient in Canva (required) for design, or similar product
  • Experience with CapCut, Adobe Photoshop, or a similar video/photo editing tool.
  • Strong visual storytelling ability and eye for design, composition, and brand aesthetics.
  • Comfortable shooting photos and basic video on-site (iPhone acceptable).
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze basic analytics and metrics (social media insights), and translate them into actionable ideas.
  • Organized, able to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and content calendars.
  • Comfortable working occasionally outdoors at the recycling yard.
  • Currently studying or recently graduated in marketing, communications, digital media, design, or a related field (preferred but not required).

Requirements

Who You Are:

  • A Junior or Senior currently enrolled at an accredited college or university, majoring in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Business, or a related field.
  • Familiar with design tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), or similar.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with an eye for design and brand consistency.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and eager to learn.
  • Experience or coursework in email marketing platforms (Mailchimp, HubSpot, Constant Contact) is a plus.
