Job Summary

As our Rigging Apprentice, you’ll assist experienced professionals with installing, maintaining, and repairing both standing and running rigging systems. This role involves learning to splice ropes, set up control systems, and ensure the vessel is safe and seaworthy. Apprentices will gain hands-on experience with specialized tools and learn various rigging techniques through on-the-job training. Responsibilities

  • Installation: Assist in the installation, removal, and maintenance of masts, booms, and other spars. Install and troubleshoot standing and running rigging.
  • Development: Learn to use specialized tools and equipment, including those for working at height on masts. Learn to inspect and diagnose issues with the rigging, sails, and other marine systems.
  • Other Tasks: Assist with splicing ropes, fabricating custom components, and maintaining hardware. All duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Experience: Familiarity with boats or a marina environment.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 50+ pounds, work at heights, and in various weather conditions.
  • Certifications: Must hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Pre-Employment: All applicants must be able to successfully pass a background check as a condition of employment.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of basic hand tools.
  • Ability to follow technical instructions.
  • Passion for sailing and willingness to learn.
  • An aptitude for hands-on problem-solving.
  • Ability to assist experienced crew members and yard staff.
