Job Summary:
Substitute teachers play a vital role in maintaining the educational experience when classroom teachers are absent due to illness, personal leave, or professional development. In a Christ-centered learning environment, the Substitute will guide students with compassion and purpose, upholding the school's commitment to glorifying God through academic excellence and spiritual growth.
Job Responsibilities:
- Arrives at expected start time to pick up keys and the substitute folder in the office to become oriented in the classroom, emergency procedures, seating charts, routines/ rules, and lesson plans.
- Provides classroom instruction in accordance with lesson plans prepared by the regular teacher, maintaining continuity of learning.
- Integrates Biblical principles and Christian philosophy of education throughout the lessons.
- Maintains appropriate classroom and campus discipline to ensure a positive learning environment and the safety of all students.
- Uses classroom management strategies to ensure students stay on track and maintain focus during classes.
- Ensures the safety and well-being of all students under their supervision.
- Aware of the emergency procedures of the school, including evacuation paths and drill protocol.
- Inform the teacher and administration (through the daily report) of the progress of the class and of any difficulties encountered.
Compensation:
- Traditional K-12: $132 per day, prorated for partial days
- Homeschool: $18.50 per hour
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and regularly attend a Bible-believing church that agrees with NWC’s Statement of Faith.
- Current Washington State Teaching Certificate (preferred)
- Prior classroom teaching experience preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must pass a National and Washington State Patrol background screen.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the school for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
