Position Objectives:
To advise and assist PETA members interested in supporting PETA’s work through legacy giving; to cultivate and steward strong partnerships between members and PETA; and to develop and implement successful strategies to determine and facilitate the philanthropic goals of PETA members
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
• In consultation and verified compliance with the objectives, standards, and requirements communicated by the PETA Foundation:
o Identify, solicit, and secure legacy gifts opportunities with PETA members
o Respond to requests from PETA members and the general public about legacy gifts, major gifts, and real property gifts
o Cultivate and maintain relationships through correspondence, visits, and other forms of professional contact with PETA members who are considering a legacy gift and who have made PETA the beneficiary of a legacy gift, including members of PETA's Augustus Club
o Maintain a current knowledge and a clear understanding of PETA's campaigns and activities, as well as animal liberation issues in general
o Develop and implement successful fundraising strategies
o Stay current on legacy giving and major giving techniques and factors that affect charitable giving
o Discern and document pertinent information to enhance and develop PETA member profiles
• Represent the PETA Foundation in a professional capacity, including at fundraising and other animal-advocacy events
• Maintain strict confidentiality at all times
• Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor
• Degree in a related field or equivalent experience
• Minimum of three years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, financial planning, or equivalent experience
• Proven ability to maintain professional working relationships with members and supporters
• A high level of initiative, organizational skills, and attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, to use discretion in confidential matters, and to maintain strict confidentiality
• Exceptional persuasive and explanatory written and verbal communication skills
• Proven excellent project management, strategic thinking, and analytical skills
• Experience with donor database CRM’s and proficiency in Microsoft 365 and Asana preferred
• Thorough knowledge of animal liberation issues and PETA campaigns
• Professional appearance and adherence to a healthy vegan lifestyle
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively
• Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid U.S. driver's license, a minimum of three years of driving experience, and a satisfactory driving record
• Ability to represent PETA's philosophy and professionally advocate for PETA's positions on issues
• Commitment to the objectives of the organization
The salary range for this position is $44,222.30 - $69,305.60 annually. The ultimate salary within this range that will be offered to a qualified candidate will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and the cost of living in the area in which the candidate will live and work.
