Position Overview 

The Senior Account Manager is a trusted partner and strategic advisor to an assigned portfolio of healthcare clients. This role focuses on retention, relationship expansion, and upselling VITAL WorkLife’s solutions, maximizing the impact and value our programs deliver. 


This role cultivates existing accounts, identifies evolving client needs, and proactively recommends additional solutions, training, and consulting engagements to help our clients succeed. 


We are seeking a Senior Account Manager who will bring a fresh perspective and strong ownership to driving sales and client engagement. The ideal candidate embraces a “Challenger Sales” approach, with a proven ability to guide clients thoughtfully, spark meaningful conversations, and deliver strong results in both revenue growth and client retention. 

This role is ideal for a consultative relationship-builder who thrives on deep client engagement, data-driven insights, and growing revenue through thoughtful upselling and cross-selling within existing healthcare partnerships. 


Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of healthcare client relationships—including hospitals, health systems, medical groups and academic medical centers. 
  • Serve as a point of contact for client stakeholders, establishing VITAL WorkLife as a trusted advisor. 
  • Achieve targeted subscription, renewal and fee-for-service revenue goals by ensuring high client satisfaction and proactively upselling additional solutions. 
  • Lead contract renewal and expansion initiatives; coordinate with internal stakeholders on pricing and scope. 
  • Conduct regular strategic meetings and quarterly business reviews to educate stakeholders on solution performance, emerging well-being challenges, and VITAL WorkLife’s evolving offerings. 
  • Partner with Engagement Managers, Implementation Specialist, and internal teams to support seamless program launches, communications, and reporting. 
  • Share client feedback and market intelligence with solutions, clinical, and marketing teams to influence program enhancements. 
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the healthcare industry—including clinician burnout trends, mental health parity, workforce retention challenges, and regulatory shifts—positioning VITAL WorkLife as an indispensable partner. 
  • Champion our unique value proposition versus competitors. 
  • Maintain accurate account documentation, pipeline of upsell opportunities, and renewal timelines using HubSpot CRM. 
  • Participate in team projects, process improvement initiatives, and thought-leadership activities as needed. 

Revenue Growth and Business Outcomes 

  • Achieve targeted subscription, renewal, and fee-for-service revenue goals by ensuring high client satisfaction and proactively upselling additional solutions. 
  • Monitor client utilization, impact metrics, and industry trends to identify opportunities for expansion and improvement. 
  • Leverage analytics, ROI reporting, and best practices to demonstrate value and strengthen client partnerships. 

Collaboration and Program Support 

  • Partner with Engagement Managers, Implementation Specialists, and internal teams to support seamless program launches, communications, and reporting. 
  • Share client feedback and market intelligence with solutions, clinical, and marketing teams to influence program enhancements. 
  • Participate in team projects, process improvement initiatives, and thought-leadership activities as needed. 

Industry Expertise and Account Management 

  • Maintain a deep understanding of the healthcare industry, including clinician burnout trends, mental health parity, workforce retention challenges, and regulatory shifts, positioning VITAL WorkLife as an indispensable partner.

Requirements

Qualifications 

Education & Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field. 
  • 7+ years of experience managing strategic accounts within large, complex healthcare organizations. 
  • Proven track record of driving retention and revenue growth through upselling/cross-selling in an existing client base. 
  • Background in at least one of the following: healthcare, mental/behavioral health, well-being, insurance, benefits, HR, or employee assistance. 

Skills & Abilities 

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, including ability to engage C-suite and physician leadership. 
  • Data-driven mindset: comfortable using utilization and outcome metrics to frame upsell opportunities. 
  • Proficiency in HubSpot CRM, Microsoft Office, and virtual presentation tools. 
  • Strong organizational and project management skills; adept at juggling multiple priorities. 
  • Independent self-starter with sound judgment, able to work with minimal supervision. 
  • Creative and resourceful problem solver; flexible team player who contributes to a collaborative, preferred workplace.

  • Travel: Up to 10–15% for client meetings, conferences, and industry events.

Base $130,000 + Commission
