COOP CONTRIBUTIONS


The Staff Veterinarian plays  a critical role in delivering comprehensive veterinary care and support for  poultry health. This position involves conducting health assessments,  performing diagnostics, and developing tailored treatment plans and  preventative health programs. The Veterinarian will collaborate closely with  clients, farm staff, and the Wilson Vet Co. team to ensure optimal poultry  health, welfare, and productivity. In addition to hands-on care, this role  includes contributing to data collection, reporting, and the development of  materials to enhance client knowledge and support best practices. Depending on  individual expertise, the Staff Veterinarian may also engage in areas such as  marketing, sales, account management, and business development to further  advance Wilson Vet Co.’s mission and impact.


POSITION LOCATION


Operate from a home office at an agreed upon geographic area.

  • Western US (Arizona, California, Colorado,  Oregon, Washington)


POSITION TIMELINE


The expected start date for this position would be after 6/1/2026,  although there might be opportunities for further discussion on this timeline  dependent on an individual applicant’s availability, training level, and  career background.


ROOST RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform field veterinary work,  including diagnostics, treatment planning, and farm visits
  • Conduct regular flock health  inspections and audits to assess overall health, management practices, and  compliance with biosecurity protocols
  • Provide expert consultation on  disease prevention, vaccination schedules, and health management tailored to  the specific needs of each client
  • Offer guidance and support for  outbreak investigations, including onsite evaluations, sampling, and report  generation
  • Collect diagnostic samples and  complete laboratory submissions
  • Analyze and report data to monitor  health trends and outcomes
  • Stay informed on the latest  advancements in poultry health, treatments, and regulations, and apply this  knowledge to enhance service quality
  • Develop educational materials and  provide training on poultry health and welfare
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety  standards
  • Represent Wilson Vet Co. at industry events, conferences, and client meetings to promote the organization and build professional networks
  • Perform other duties, as assigned
Requirements

EGG-CELLENT ATTRIBUTES & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree  from an accredited US institution
  • Successful completion of the  national veterinary board exam and eligibility for licensure in at least one  US state
  • Proficiency with general computer systems and the  ability to quickly learn databases and software used by Wilson Vet Co. 
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to travel, including up to 10 overnight stays per month and local, non-overnight travel to farm locations within a reasonable driving distance

EXTRA FLUFF IN YOUR FEATHERS

  • Demonstrated expertise in  diagnosing and managing common poultry diseases, including viral, bacterial,  and parasitic conditions
  • Experience working with  commercial poultry operations, including broilers, breeders, and layer
  • Familiarity with poultry  production systems
  • Knowledge of regulatory  frameworks and compliance requirements in the poultry industry
  • Other business experience related to sales,  marketing, operations are always welcome to our entrepreneurial team structure

WORKPLACE ENVIRONMENT

Wilson Veterinary Co. currently operates in 30 US states and while we expect many operations can be in driving distance to an employee’s home base – some overnight travel is required. 


Additionally, you will be required to handle and restrain chickens, perform examinations in various weather conditions, and navigate farm environments which may include uneven terrain. The work environment can involve exposure to dust, feathers, and animal odors, and requires maintaining a calm demeanor in potentially noisy settings.
