HospiceServe is looking for a full-time Accountant to join our team!
The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining the general ledger accounts, preparing journal entries, and ensuring reconciliations of accounts are complete on a timely basis. The Accountant will combine advanced analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to prepare and analyze financial reports and activities. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, organized, has strong time management skills, and meets deadlines.
ROLE EXPECTATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform month-end close duties, including post monthly entries, complete monthly reconciliations, ensure accruals are accurate, complete monthly checklist.
- Take ownership of financial models and schedules ensuring accurate reporting of monthly results.
- Identify, analyze and interpret data and applies professional concepts, policies and procedures to analyze and resolve routine issues – and proposes solutions for more complex situations.
- Analyze and interpret operational and financial information to assess operating results in terms of performance.
- Identify trends and benchmark the performance against historical trends.
- Analyze the financial implications of proposed transactions, investments, decisions, etc. and quantify financial and operational impacts.
- Identify opportunities for increased efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting through process/procedure improvement and technology.
- Coordinate with appropriate personnel in the resolution of any discrepancies. Escalates more complex issues as necessary to supervisor/manager for resolution, as deemed necessary.
- Support year-end audit with external auditors, including financial records, general ledger, and 401k plan, as appropriate.
- May participate in process reviews and assist with documentation of internal controls to ensure the reliability and accuracy of financial statements.
- Process bill payments/invoices for client, if needed. Maintain vendors and related documentation in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Build stable working relationships internally and provides customer support to leadership and stakeholders.
- Provide Accounting support for acquisitions, including the integration of all acquisitions and related activities, if needed.
- Assist with diverse accounting and analytical projects.

Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree required
- Preferred Masters Degree (Emphasis on Hospice Management)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- 5+ years applying GAAP with progressive financial accounting experience in start-up or healthcare environment
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Technical experience including SQL, PowerBI and in-depth understanding of Excel functions
- System migration experience and demonstrated automation to improve accounting processes.
- Accounts payable, payroll and/or complex accounting desired
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar accounting system(s).
- Start up or private equity experience strongly desired.
