Position Overview:

Under the direction of the Director of Web R&D, the Associate Product Owner supports the product team in delivering high-quality features, ensuring smooth cross-functional collaboration, and maintaining clear, organized product documentation. This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, customer service-focused, and proactive. The Associate Product Owner at Johnson Health Tech will partner across global teams to not only support our existing fitness platforms, but also design, build, & deliver the next generation of fitness products. The Associate Product Owner is intended to be an introductory role for the Product Owner I, II, and III positions.


Responsibilities:

Product Triage & Testing:

· Monitor production issues, assist in triage, and help facilitate resolution with applicable teams such as DQA, console software, overseas R&D teams, factory, or SBUs. 

· Identify patterns in issues and proactively surface risks or improvement opportunities.

· Assist in hands-on testing of new features prior to Product Owner approval, ensuring functionality aligns with requirements and software is in working order. 


Backlog Support:

· Support the Product Owner team by assisting in maintaining Jira boards, including creating and updating epics, stories, versions, and workflows.

· Partner with the Product Owner team to refine acceptance criteria and ensure requirements are clear and actionable. 

· Support the prioritization process by ensuring backlog items are well-defined, organized, and ready for development.

· Ensure the DPD projects are accurately reflected in Jira and other Johnson internal documentation.


Meetings & Communication:

· Exceptional customer service: Treat everyone in R&D (mechanical/electrical engineers, DQA, embedded, product owners, scrummasters, PMs, etc) kindly, fairly, and with respect at all times.

· Plan, coordinate, and facilitate recurring team ceremonies with a Scrum-like approach 

· Organize and capture within Confluence detailed meeting notes, follow-ups, and outcomes; ensure decisions and discussions are documented, dispersed, and easily accessible.

· Communicate dependencies, risks, and timelines to appropriate partners.

· Document, obtain approvals, and communicate the outage report and findings


Release Support:

· Support release planning by coordinating release communication and validating release readiness before the release and post-release


Product Ownership:

· May manage features or products with a low degree of scope and complexity 

· Work in conjunction with and take direction from Product Owners or Agile Coach in support of the outlined work for a team or multiple teams


Continuous Learning:

· The Associate Product Owner should never stop learning new skills about the product owner role, agile software development, leadership, communication tools, and other business acumen skills.

· Other Duties as Assigned

Requirements


Education:

· Minimum of a 4-year degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or related field OR a minimum of 2 years equivalent experience.


Experience:

· 2 years of experience in roles related to product development, project coordination, or software delivery is ideal.
