Job Overview:
Working as part of NFPA’s Product Management team in the Operations Division, we are seeking are seeking an experienced and growth-driven Director, Digital Products, to lead and scale our expanding software-as-a-service business. This role will oversee a small, high-performing team to manage the development of our existing SaaS platform, ensuring continuous product enhancements, strong customer acquisition, and improving customer retention and renewal rates.
In addition, this role will inform and oversee the development of a new API-based SaaS licensing product. The ideal candidate combines product leadership with commercial acumen, bringing a strategic mindset, technical expertise, and hands-on execution ability to accelerate SaaS growth and AI integration.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Strategy & Execution:
- Drive the vision, roadmap, and execution of enhancements for the company’s existing SaaS platform (NFPA LiNK), ensuring alignment with overall Association goals, product management strategy and industry trends.
- Oversee the development of new digital products in the portfolio, including NFPA’s LLM, to ensure the delivery of a high-quality, innovative and meaningful subscription experience for customers.
- Identify opportunities to expand the SaaS offerings and content integration, including new features, pricing models, and value-added services.
- Provide product guidance for the design and launch of a new API-based SaaS licensing product.
- Collaborate with IT and the product strategy team to deliver innovative, customer-focused solutions that increase adoption and satisfaction.
Market Research and Customer Feedback:
- Monitor competitive landscape and analyze market research and market trends to ensure product differentiation and growth opportunities. Engage with relevant stakeholder organizations to remain informed of industry activities, and opportunities for connectivity.
- Incorporate customer feedback, user research and data analytics into SaaS product portfolio.
Product Performance:
·Growth and Acquisition:
- Develop and implement go-to-market strategies that expand customer acquisition and maximize revenue.
- Partner with, strategic planning, business intelligence, sales and marketing to optimize lead generation, conversion, and pricing strategies.
- Identify new customer segments and collaboration opportunities to accelerate growth.
Customer Success & Retention:
- Build strategies to increase customer engagement, satisfaction, and renewal rates.
- Ensure customer success initiatives are aligned with long-term business goals.
- Analyze churn patterns and implement proactive measures to improve retention.
Team Leadership:
- Set direction for, lead and provide day-to-day management, mentoring, and coaching to a small team to ensure highest levels of performance and productivity in support of Association initiatives, focused on product and customer growth.
- Foster collaboration between product, IT, sales, technical services and marketing teams to achieve growth and retention targets.
Financial & Performance Management:
- Work with strategy and finance teams to inform forecasts, budgets, and pricing strategies that support SaaS growth.
- Monitor and control budget in a manner responsive to the Association’s monthly financial reporting cycle; identify and report changes, problems and discrepancies.
- Track and report on key SaaS KPIs, including MRR, ARR, CAC, LTV, and churn.
- Ensure product goals align with company-wide objectives.
- Supervise and monitor any 3rd party vendors as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of SaaS leadership experience in product, growth, or revenue-focused roles, with at least 3 years in a director-level position.
- Proven success in scaling SaaS products, improving retention, and driving revenue growth.
- Demonstrated ability to define and execute AI product strategies, leading cross-functional teams to design, develop, and integrate AI and LLM technologies into scalable SaaS platforms. Strong understanding of SaaS financial metrics (ARR, MRR, churn, CAC, LTV).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
