JOB PURPOSE: Oversees all aspects of development, including donor cultivation, grants management, marketing, and communications. Works closely with the President/CEO, the Executive Team, and the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategy. Supervises the Development and Marketing team, leading the creation and implementation of departmental plans. Provides guidance to agency leadership and program staff regarding development and communications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
• Be an innovative and dynamic leader who will oversee all communications, fundraising, grants management, and revenue streams.
• Support the President/CEO, Board, and Executive team in implementing the strategic plan and evaluating progress toward outcomes. Manage work groups as assigned.
• Design and implement a comprehensive development and marketing plan with specific and measurable goals related to cultivating individual, corporate, foundation, and special events to achieve fundraising targets.
• Foster a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization and on the board.
• Provide board support, including board member onboarding. Work with the Board Development Committee Chair to lead the Board Development Committee monthly meetings.
• Expand and enrich community partnerships within the public and private sector to cultivate strong working relationships with a long-term focus.
• Work with the President/CEO, CFO, and Director of Grants to project revenue for the agency budget, to monitor actual results, and develop resource strategies for budgetary gaps that arise.
• Track revenue and fundraising trends, using data to predict future opportunities for expansion efforts and adapt the funding plan as needed.
• In partnership with the finance department, provide guidance to ensure funds are budgeted within grant guidelines and allocated appropriately.
• Develop and implement departmental budget.
• Provides oversight and expertise with Raiser’s Edge (or similar program), statistical data collection, and reporting on fundraising initiatives, and communications strategies.
Donor Cultivation
• Manage the creation of strategies that nurture loyalty and cultivate, solicit, retain, recognize, and increase the number of consistent donors who regularly make gifts.
• Partner with President/CEO and Board to develop and grow a major gifts program including identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major donors.
• Lead prospect research activities, identifying opportunities to build presence and donor relationships with relevant stakeholders.
• Represent OPP at business and community-based meetings to build and maintain relationships with business and community partners.
• Cultivate supporters through special events, donor cultivation activities, and youth celebrations.
• In collaboration with the Director of Grants, build and maintain relationships with Program Officers from government, foundations, and corporations.
Strategic Communications
• Build OPP’s capacity to deliver consistent and compelling messages regarding the content and quality of our work.
• Oversee content strategy and creation for all print media and for digital channels including the organizational website and social media channels.
• Oversee the planning and production of the annual report and agency-level communications.
• Ensure public-facing collateral meets brand guidelines.
• Work with development team to ensure board, staff, and youth presenters are prepared to share OPP’s story.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
• 5+ years’ experience in development, special events, marketing communications, corporate relations, individual donor programs, and grant writing.
• 5+ years’ experience in Supervision and Leadership.
• Demonstrated track record of increased acquisition and retention of individual donors.
• Experience with soliciting $10,000+ individual gifts
• Understanding of fundraising best practices, Certified Fund Raising Executive or Certification from The Fund Raising School, or similar qualification preferred.
• Experience establishing performance measures, monitoring results and evaluating the effectiveness of the fund development program and all associated donor data.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to delegate, supervise, and successfully manage multiple time-sensitive projects.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong critical thinking, research, and analytical skills.
• Proven ability to interact with the business community and agency representatives.
• Creative thinker and problem solver with the ability to see the full scope of problem/project to diagnose core issues then generate, evaluate, and implement solutions.
