Department: Finance 

Reports To: Senior Accounting Manager 

Employment Type: Full-Time, Salary, Exempt, Remote (Salt Lake City, UT)  

Compensation: $85,000 – $92,000 per year

Job Summary:  The FP&A Analyst plays a crucial role in financial planning, analysis, and reporting, leveraging their expertise in three-statement budget models, advanced Excel skills, ad-hoc analysis, and experience with CPM systems and data visualization tools. The successful candidate will work with large datasets and multiple sources of data to provide valuable insights for strategic decision-making. 

Requirements

Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • Financial Planning & Forecasting: Assist in preparing annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-range financial plans by gathering and analyzing data from various departments. 
  • Reporting: Compile, analyze, and distribute regular financial reports, including variance analysis (actual vs. budget/forecast), KPI tracking, and trend analysis to key stakeholders. 
  • Data Analysis: Perform in-depth analysis of financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, providing actionable insights to drive business decisions. 
  • Ad Hoc Analysis: Support senior FP&A team members and business leaders with ad hoc financial analysis and modeling as needed. 
  • System Support: Help maintain and update financial planning systems and tools to ensure accuracy and efficiency in reporting and analysis. 
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline and improve existing FP&A processes, reporting tools, and methodologies. 
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including accounting, operations, and sales, to gather data and ensure alignment on financial metrics and assumptions. 

Education/Experience: 

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. 
  • Required: 3-5 years of experience in finance, accounting, or a related analytical role. 
  • Required: 3-5 years of advance excel. 

Qualifications/Skills: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities for this position. 

  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, v-lookups, complex formulas) and familiarity with financial modeling. 
  • Experience with financial planning software and ERP systems is a plus. 
  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and ability to handle large datasets. 
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to present data and insights clearly to stakeholders. 
  • Collaborative attitude with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. 
  • Resourceful and proactive in identifying and solving problems with a focus on continuous improvement. 
  • Understanding of financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow) and corporate finance concepts. 
  • During an in-person interview stage, candidate will be asked to complete a skills test to assess the above qualifications.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must have a dedicated and ergonomic workspace at home conducive to focused work. 
  • Access to a stable and reliable high-speed internet connection. 
  • Adequate lighting and minimal background noise to support professional video calls and meetings. 
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 5 pounds occasionally, for tasks such as setting up a workstation or equipment. 
  • The ability to work comfortably and effectively in a home environment that meets ergonomic standards, including proper seating and desk setup.
