Position: Orthopedic Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner (Part-Time)

Specialty: Orthopedics/Sports Medicine

Setting: Office/Outpatient Imaging Office

Schedule: 1-2 weekends per month; Saturday and Sunday 5-hour shifts; elective weekdays elective/not required

Pay Type: Hourly; 1099/Contracted; Biweekly payroll


Job Summary: The Orthopedic PA/NP will work collaboratively with Fellowship-Trained Orthopedic Physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care for patients with musculoskeletal conditions and injuries. Responsibilities include conducting patient assessments, assisting in surgical procedures, performing joint injections and aspirations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, developing treatment plans, educating patients and families, and managing pre- and post-operative care. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, experience in orthopedics or a related specialty, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. This position may require occasional evening or weekend coverage and participation in call rotations.


Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and treat Musculoskeletal diseases, disorders and injuries based on patient's medical history and results of physical assessment to determine extent of pain, help diagnose condition, or manage pain.
  • Order and thoroughly review imaging such as X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans for diagnosis.
  • Perform orthopedic procedures such as joint injections, PRP injections, reductions etc.
  • Coordinate additional care such as physical therapy and rehabilitation programs to offer patients a comprehensive treatment plan
  • Dispense/prescribe DME and medication as needed.
  • Direct and assess casting and splinting.
  • Develop a comprehensive treatment plan to address all the patient's concerns and involve physicians when necessary.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of the patient's visits with a clear diagnosis and treatment plan within a timely manner.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, coworkers, and management.
  • Educate patients on their diagnosis and treatment plan to ensure understanding.
  • Explain the appropriate next steps in a patient's treatment plan and refer for surgical consultation if necessary.
  • Obtain patient's history and conduct thorough physical exams in an orthopedic setting.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Graduated from a master's program as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
  • State Licensure as Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • NP's must have Family Medicine Certification or equivalent/must be qualified to see patients of all ages.
  • Comfortable working autonomously
  • Ability to excel as a team player daily & foster positive relationships between all departments and team members.
  • Able to work under pressure with competing demands requiring ability to effectively organize and prioritize workload and time.
  • 1+ years Orthopedic and Sports Medicine experience
