REPORTS TO: Fabrication Team Lead
JOB SCOPE:
As a Brake Press Operator, under minimal supervision, operate multiple press machines. Fits and fabricates structural steel, completes layout, and inspects finished product.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES:
- Read and understand basic blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts
- Responsible for powering up, running, feeding, and powering down the applicable equipment.
- Run bend and forming operations using standard and custom punches
- Adjust ram and back gauge locations per process control instructions and blueprints.
- Checks height, depth and thickness using micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, gauges and other precision-measuring instruments.
- Perform complex programming using all features of the press brake.
- Work with tight tolerances.
- Perform first piece inspections of parts; check quality of parts off machine including measurements
- Ensure machine is calibrated and cleaned.
- Operate overhead crane and jib poles
- May perform material handling duties with the use of forklift
- Maintains a clean and organized work area and maintains all equipment, to like new appearance according to maintenance plans and established procedures
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management
- Continue to grow and learn knowledge and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement
- Monitors work environment for hazards and reports all concerns
- Follows safety protocol, including wearing all required personal protective equipment
- Fill in as needed / Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Minimum prerequisite education, training, and/or experience required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-3 years related and adequate training and experience; or Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school is preferable

- Proven experience and knowledge
- Mechanically inclined
- Work independently with little direction
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, drawings, blueprints, work orders
- Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective equipment and clothing (face-shield, gloves etc. as needed)
- Skill and attention to detail
- Communication – Ability to read, write and speak English. Must be able to articulate ideas and plans and communicate these accurately and effectively to others.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, fractions percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
Physical Capabilities:
- Gripping, grasping with hands and fine manipulation
- Hand Tools Used: Clamps, hammers, tape measure, speed square, grinder, wrenches, sockets, punch, level, pliers, paint marker, digital angle gauge
- Equipment Used: Forklift, 2 ton lift, 10 ton lift, hand grinder with various attachments, oxygen acetylene torch, etc.
- Movement: Constant movement includes: walking, standing; Frequent Movement includes: climbing, bending, kneeling, crouching/squatting
- Lift and or Carry: 50Lbs Frequently, over 20lbs constantly,
