Reports to: 

The Orchestral String Luthier reports to the Store Manager. 


Position Summary: 

The primary function of the Orchestral String Luthier is to provide outstanding customer service and quality instrumental repair while living out our Passion: Inspiring Lives Through Instrumental Musical Experiences. This will be accomplished by working in the shop and supporting the store team and customers. Responsibilities include preparing and maintaining string instrument rental fleet, communicating with customers, repairing orchestral string instruments (both private party and school owned instruments) and using AIM computer software. Additional responsibilities consist of maintaining repair parts inventory and accurately completing repair paperwork including logging time on repair tickets.


The Orchestral String Luthier is expected to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality. 


Responsibilities: 

Orchestral String Repair

1. Inspect orchestra string instruments to identify defects and provide cost estimate to private party customers and orchestral string music educators.

2. Completes repairs approved by customers in a timely manner.

3. Play test instruments to ensure instruments are returned to customer in playable condition

4. Communicate repair estimates and explain the repair process to private party customers and music educators.

5. Perform instrument set-ups for orchestral string rental fleet.

6. Accurately logs time on service tickets. 

7. Ensures repair parts inventory is maintained on a regular basis. 

8. Prepares and submits repair orders after approval.

9. Ability to problem solve issues related to instrument repairs.

General

1. Employee is expected to be pleasant, courteous, and perform duties in a professional manner.

2. Constant knowledge of company policies and procedures.

3. May be required to work weekend hours, evening hours, and work rotating shifts.

4. Must be able to work under continuous stressful situations.

5. Performs other related duties as assigned.

6. Support retail sales professionals and school service representatives through expert orchestral string knowledge and advice.

Requirements

Physical Requirements:

1. Employee is often required to sit, stand, lift, use their fingers and hands, handle and feel.

2. Employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use stairs, reach, balance, stoop and kneel.

3.  Above average verbal and written skills.

4.  Ability to handle all supplies to work independently.

5.  Operate shop tools independently.

6.  Lift up to 50# - 10 % of the time

7.  Employee is required to talk and to hear.


Basic Skills Required:

1. Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

2. Basic computer skills, including but not limited to AIM and Microsoft Office.

3. Keyboard accurately.
