The Director of AI will lead the development, integration, and hands-on application of AI tools across The Gettys Group. This role focuses on improving workflow efficiency, enhancing design output, and enabling teams to use modern AI systems, including text based LLMs and diffusion/video models in practical, repeatable ways.
This position requires someone who is comfortable working directly with designers, strategists, and project teams to understand real business needs and translate them into reliable AI processes. The ideal candidate is a technical generalist with strong experimentation skills, clear communication, and the ability to deploy AI solutions that meaningfully support design, visualization, storytelling, procurement, and project-delivery workflows.
Role Responsibilities
Set the Strategy & Vision
· Define and maintain an actionable AI roadmap that supports design, visualization, and operational needs across the company.
· Identify opportunities where AI tools can reduce workload, improve quality, or create new capabilities.
Lead the Tech
· Build, test, and deploy practical AI solutions using a mix of commercial tools and open-source platforms.
· Develop workflows that incorporate LLM reasoning, diffusion models, video generation models, and agent-based automation.
· Maintain a strong understanding of the capabilities and limitations of frontier diffusion models (e.g., Nano Banana, Flux, Veo 3) and guide the company in using them effectively.
Own the Project Lifecycle
· Handle projects from initial scoping through prototyping, testing, deployment, and iteration.
· Create repeatable systems and documentation that allow non-technical team members to reliably use new AI tools.
Team Up Across the Company
· Work directly with designers and project teams to integrate AI tools into day-to-day processes.
· Train and support team members in using text LLMs, diffusion models, and multimodal agents.
· Produce internal guides, best-practice libraries, and hands-on training sessions to build confidence and competence across studios.
Role Requirements
Technical Expertise (Practical, Not Academic)
· Strong understanding of modern LLM workflows, image/video diffusion models, and multimodal reasoning systems.
· Comfortable working in ComfyUI, using open-source models, and troubleshooting pipeline behavior.
· Deep knowledge of frontier diffusion models—how they differ, where they excel, and where they break.
· Experience working with agentic coding tools such as Cursor, Windsurf, Claude Code, or Codex.
· Experience building multi-step agent workflows using LangChain or similar frameworks.
· Ability to evaluate new AI tools quickly and integrate them into existing processes.
Strategic Problem-Solving
· Ability to translate workflow challenges into practical AI solutions.
· Experience prioritizing high-impact projects and building clear implementation plans.
Communication
· Ability to clearly explain technical workflows to non-technical teammates.
· Comfortable running trainings, demos, and 1:1 coaching.
Proven Experience
· A track record of hands-on AI development and integration in a creative, design-focused, or fast-moving environment.
· Demonstrated ability to successfully deploy AI tools that support real production work.
Education
· Degree in computer science, design technology, data science, or related field—or equivalent professional experience.
