Description

 The Alfond Youth & Community Center is seeking a dynamic and experienced Wellness leader to oversee the strategic direction, daily operations, and long-term growth of our Wellness Department. This role is responsible for developing and managing comprehensive wellness programs, supervising staff and volunteers, overseeing budgets and resources, and operational planning. This position plays a vital role in advancing our mission by fostering a culture of health, safety, and community well-being for all ages and abilities. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Schedule, deliver, and evaluate Wellness programs that meet the needs and interests of target populations. Ensure their delivery in a safe and quality manner.
  • Ensure that Local, State & Federal guidelines are followed for Wellness Facilities and programs.
  • Deliver programs and activities appropriate to the target populations. Including, but not limited to youth fitness, senior/adult fitness, general fitness, group exercise, personal training, small group training, sport performance training, and health coaching.
  • Remain current with information on the developmental needs of youth, as well as fitness/wellness generally.
  • Provide direct support and supervision for Wellness staff and volunteers.
  • Conduct regular in-service trainings for staff & volunteers reviewing department protocols, emergency procedures, and customer service objectives.
  • Ensure regular equipment maintenance & cleaning processes are in place and followed.
  • Observe staff & participants, assess and enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate management techniques.
  • Assist with any Alfond Youth & Community Center special events or programs; in particular, major donor events such as the Annual Appeal, AYCC Craft Fair, and other fundraisers.
  • Work collaboratively with the Finance department to develop an annual budget and oversee its implementation. Design effective budget models, complete analysis of department financials, and share information with designated committees.
  • Accomplish department and organizational objectives by managing staff and their performance, planning, scheduling and evaluating staff, recruiting, selecting, orienting and training staff, coaching employees to foster growth opportunities and completing required paperwork in a timely manner.
Requirements

  KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Recreation Management, Physical Education, or other related field required. Master’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of fitness/wellness trends.
  • Must possess, or have the ability to earn, certifications in personal training & group exercise from Nationally Recognized Governing Bodies.
  • Current Adult, Child & Infant CPR/AED and first aid certification or be willing to become certified within 90 days of employment.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum three years related experience in Wellness Programming.
  • Preferred experience managing 3 or more employees for 1 or more years.
  • Experience coaching/training clients one-on-one and in groups.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency required.

WORK SCEHDULE: Full time at 40 hours per week. Daytime, evening, and weekend work hours may be required. 

Salary Description
$45,300-$50,000
