As a GIS Analyst I, you’ll transform data, plans, and field information into accurate maps and tools that engineers and utility leaders rely on every day. Your work will directly support water, sewer, and stormwater systems that keep communities safe and resilient.
This is a hybrid position that will be based out of our Cary, North Carolina office.
What You’ll Do
- Create and maintain GIS data, maps, ArcGIS Online web maps, and reports
- Edit water, sewer, and stormwater data from plans, drawings, and field collection
- Collaborate with engineers and senior GIS staff to meet project deadlines
- Follow GIS workflows, standards, and best practices
- Perform quality control checks and support database maintenance
- Continuously learn new GIS skills and processes

- 2+ years of experience in the field of GIS
- Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS software (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and related tools).
- BA, BS, or AAS in GIS, Geography, or related field
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Intermediate knowledge of GIS-related software, GIS principles, products, and services
- Ability to organize work, establish priorities, meet established deadlines, and follow up on assignments with little direction
- Ability to work with large relational databases. Experience with working within a Spatial Database Engine (SDE) is a plus.
- Knowledge and understanding of water, wastewater, and stormwater utilities
- Knowledge and understanding of land surveying data collection methods and software
- Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
Preferred:
- ESRI Certification
- GISP Certification
- Strong problem-solving skills
- ArcGIS Pro Software experience
- ESRI LGIM and Utility Network experience
- Lead Service Line Inventory experience
- GIS Application Experience to include Model Builder, Web App Builder, basic Python, Experience Builder, Field Maps, or Survey 123 within the ArcGIS Online Platform
Working Conditions
The assignment may require infrequent evening/weekend work and off site travel to career fairs and other related sites. Candidates should enjoy working in collaborative, fast-paced, and client-driven environment.
Physical Requirements
The assignment may occasionally require repetitive physical tasks (such as operating a computer), standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time, extended time travelling in a vehicle, and carrying equipment and materials up to 25 pounds.
