NAFSA Association of International Educators is the world’s largest association of professionals committed exclusively to advancing international education and exchange. The association provides professional development and learning opportunities, promotes research and knowledge, and convenes conferences and collaborative dialogues.
The Conference & Meetings team manages NAFSA’s Annual Conference and internal and external Meetings.
Spring 2026 Intern Projects (January through Mid-May):
As a part of our team, you will engage in various projects and gain valuable experience in nonprofit events and program management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Associate Director and Program Manager in In-house and External Meetings; to include Board Meetings, Advocacy Day, and other events as assigned
- Assist the Program Manager in the Visa Invitation Letter process for annual conference attendee
- Assist with annual conference prep, including ribbon inventory, materials packing for supplies, sessions, posters, and signature program
- Collect the schedule of staff volunteers for Annual Conference.
- Assist Associate Director with Annual Conference Food and Beverage collection as needed
- Work with Logistics Department in collaboration cross department to achieve meeting and annual conference goal
- Assist in Annual conference timeline management
- Manage conference logistics and program inboxes to ensure conference attendees are getting the best information and answers to their questions as we approach the annual conference
- Organize and update presentations for spring trainings, orientations, and webinars; assist with design aspects and materials for presentations as needed
- Assist the Associate Director, Global and Conference Engagement, with launching the Conference Call for Proposals for 2027. This includes proofing documents and getting them presenter-ready for the Annual Conference Committee and Conference Program team
- Provide essential administrative support to the conference logistics and programs team as needed

- Tech-Savvy: Comfortable with Notion, Zoom, Canva, and Microsoft Office; comfortable learning new tools
- Works well in fast-paced environments
- Forward thinking and brings innovative ideas and fresh prospective
Preferred Qualifications:
- Interest or knowledge in higher education, international education, social media, marketing, and project management
- Must be available to work in DC office Tuesday - Thursday
- Interest in Conferences and Events
- A self-starter who is eager to learn
Compensation: $18.00/hour for 20 hours per week with opportunity for holiday, retirement benefits, if eligible.

We welcome students with valid work authorization wishing to complete their experiential learning through their established curricular practical training (CPT), optional practical training (OPT) or academic training eligibility.
