Gazaway Ace is a locally owned small business located in Paragould, AR with locations in Jonesboro, Fayetteville and Benton, AR. Our Paragould store was established in 1963 and features a broad line of building materials along with Ace Hardware's key departments of paint, electrical, plumbing, and tools. Our corporate offices are at the Paragould location located at 2620 W Kingshighway next to Walmart.  

  

Position Summary

The Small Engine Repair Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining small engines and related equipment, primarily STIHL products, as well as other brands serviced by the company. This role supports our hardware and building supply business by providing high-quality repair services, excellent customer service, and maintaining an organized, safe repair shop.


  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and fuel-system issues on small engines and outdoor power equipment.

• Repair and service equipment including chainsaws, trimmers, blowers, lawn mowers, and other small engine-powered tools.

• Perform routine maintenance such as tune-ups, oil changes, blade sharpening, filter replacement, and carburetor service.

• Accurately document diagnostics, repairs performed, parts used, and labor hours.

• Order, receive, and maintain inventory of parts and supplies.

• Communicate with customers regarding repair needs, estimates, and timelines.

• Ensure repairs meet manufacturer specifications and safety standards.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

• Stay current on product updates and service bulletins, especially for STIHL products.

• Assist with warranty repairs and claims.

• Assist customers on the sales floor and yard as needed.

Requirements

  

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Experience in small engine or mechanical repair preferred.

• Knowledge of two-cycle and four-cycle engines.

• Familiarity with STIHL products preferred.

• Ability to read service manuals and parts diagrams.

• Basic computer skills.

Skills and Abilities

• Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.

• Good communication and customer service skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Dependable and safety-conscious.

   Be able to pass a background check and drug screen.



  

Work Environment

• Repair shop environment with exposure to noise, fumes, oils, and mechanical equipment.

• Use of PPE required.

Schedule and Compensation

• Schedule: Full-time 

• Compensation: Based on experience
