The Flight Engineer Instructor (Lead/Test) delivers senior-level flight engineer instruction and performs simulator test-crew duties to assess C-5 training device fidelity, while helping coordinate and standardize flight engineer training programs. Essential Functions of the Position:

• Perform all duties of a Flight Engineer Instructor

• Conduct simulator test events to validate device performance and assist with SIMCERT and modification testing

• Support Instructor Evaluator responsibilities in accordance with PWS 3.14.2.2.

• Assist with courseware review, FCIF updates, scheduling support, safety and quality audits, and other administrative tasks

• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience:

The following are the requisite education and/or experience required to qualify for the position as a C-5 Flight Engineer Instructor Lead/Test.


  • Meets all Flight Engineer Instructor requirements in PWS 3.14.3.2, including flight hour and instructor hour thresholds
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a senior, lead, or evaluator flight engineer instructor preferred
  • Typically dedicates at least 40 percent of available time to test aircrew duties in accordance with PWS 3.14.3.4.
  • Previously qualified as a C-5 AMP/C-5M Instructor Flight Engineer.
  • Flight experience:
  • o 1,000 C-5 flight hours, or
  • o 500 C-5 flight hours and 1,200 total flight hours (TFT) in mobility aircraft.
  • Minimum of 200 C-5 Instructor Flight Engineer hours.
  • Associates degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required Secret security clearance.
