The Superintendent is responsible for the daily operations of a job site, including scheduling, production, procurement of materials, manpower, and equipment. The Superintendent supervises all employees on the assigned project, manages the work contracted, and ensures successful completion of projects. A desired candidate has project management experience, is systematic and organized, and has a return-and-report mindset.
Responsibilities
Oversee construction projects from beginning to end
Manage the budget and estimate costs
Determine the necessary equipment, materials, and manpower needed
Keep track of inventory, tools, and equipment
Ensure supplies and equipment are ordered and delivered according to schedule
Prepare reports regarding job status
Resolve any problems that may arise
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes
Evaluate risks and work with direct manager safety manager regarding any concerns
Collaborate with contractors, engineers, architects and key team members of the project team
Obtain the appropriate permits and licenses from authorities for construction sites
Plan construction operations and ensure all deadlines are met
Allocate and manage resources to ensure they are available when they are needed throughout the construction projects
Handle any environmental or local community issues that may come up during a project
Conduct site checks to monitor progress and quality standards
Comfortable reading and understanding blueprints and drawings
Attend all required meetings, including safety training
Perform other related duties as assigned or required
Estimator
Acquire understanding of the requirements of the project/ program at hand
Select metrics to produce valid estimates
Visit sites to gather essential information
Review documents or consult experts to collect all necessary data
Analyze data and produce forecasts
Perform risk analysis
Prepare detailed reports or bids for submission to appropriate parties
Select advantageous deals by evaluating offers and quotes
Foster relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, architects, etc.)
Respond to all bid requests in a timely manner
Perform other related duties as assigned or required
8+ years of prior work experience
Valid driver’s license
Willing to travel to and from the project site
Ability to read blueprints
Demonstrated knowledge of construction project management
Understands and applies building codes and other design requirements correctly
Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities
Critical thinking and proactive problem solving
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong attention to detail
Highly organized
Reliable and dependable
Desire and ability to work effectively as part of a team
Able to use technology effectively

CSA Certification
NICET Certification
