Produce Team Member- Part-Time
Description

Maximizes the customers’ experience by creating attractive and abundant produce displays and by correctly handling/storing produce in accordance with organic standards. Delivers superb customer service and is able to answer questions customers have about produce, make suggestions on food preparation, including menu ideas.


Part-time, weekend availability required

Wage Range: $17.73-$22.00/hour



Requirements

Essential Functions

  • Self-starts and keeps moving; prioritizes well
  • Prepares, rotates, displays produce with signs based on training & organic standards
  • Assists with special orders
  • Learns about new products
  • Is able to make recipe suggestions
  • Processes and stores all deliveries in a timely and accurate manner
  • Minimizes spoilage
  • Follows systems of sanitation and organization in the back room including emptying recycling, trash and removing pallets as needed
  • Assists in the cleaning and stocking of restrooms
  • Assists in cleaning store and equipment
  • Receives product deliveries, ensuring order and invoice accuracy
  • Accurately and neatly stocks products
  • Pays close attention to product and shelf tags
  • Cleans up debris after stocking (cardboard, etc)
  • Keeps pace with the team, working harmoniously throughout the store
  • Assists with simple maintenance
  • Provides back-up and assistance to Garden Department
  • Assists Produce Manager in ordering products
  • Assists Produce Manager in updating pricing and signs
  • Assists Produce Manager in training new staff
  • Communicates concerns and ideas to manager
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience working in retail, preferably grocery or natural food store
  • Knowledge of organic/natural products helpful
  • Cooking/farming experience helpful
  • Proven ability to provide excellent, professional customer service by projecting a friendly, outgoing presence and maintaining a respectful demeanor at all times
  • Ability to handle multiple demands, remain calm, think quickly, prioritize effectively, and problem solve within established guidelines
  • Ability to work well with others in a cooperative environment where teamwork, compassion and constant communication are essential
  • Ability to meet expectations of regular, predictable attendance
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, and weekends
  • Ability to maintain current food handler card
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Essential Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged standing and walking
  • Frequent reaching, bending, twisting, and rotating
  • Continuous fine motors skills work and gripping with hands
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs. often, up to 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Exposure to temperatures: 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Clear spoken English and ability to perceive spoken voice clearly
