Description

  

HELIX Environmental Planning (HELIX) – a growing employee-owned, California-based environmental consulting firm is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our team working out of our Folsom, CA office. Established in 1991, HELIX helps public and private clients comply with environmental laws and regulations, manage natural and cultural resources, and design and construct sustainable projects.


In this role, you will manage the financial aspects of assigned projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. You will maintain project data in Deltek VantagePoint, oversee billing and accounts receivable, and ensure contract-specific accounting requirements are met. Additional responsibilities include preparing subcontractor agreements, monitoring budgets, coordinating insurance documentation, and supporting audits.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain project information in VantagePoint database
  • Assist with financial audits of projects
  • Review and process contracts 
  • Research unbilled items, finalize billings, and submit invoices promptly
  • Coordinate accounts receivable for assigned projects
  • Prepare and enter subcontractor agreements 
  • Approve and allocate subcontractor invoices 
  • Monitor and record progress payments
  • Request and maintain Certificates of Insurance
  • Enter and monitor project budgets and internal revisions
  • Perform miscellaneous accounting tasks as assigned by Controller


Hourly wages will be based on qualifications and/or experience. Expected starting pay range of $36 to $41 per hour.

Requirements

  

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least four years of experience in an accounting role, preferably billing
  • At least four years of experience in the accounting department of an environmental consulting, engineering, architectural, or similar firm
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience with Deltek Software
  • Bachelor’s degree 
Salary Description
Range of $36 - $41 hourly
