JPI is seeking a Systems Engineer to serve as a subject matter expert in systems engineering, providing technical expertise and guidance to support the development, integration, and testing of complex acquisition systems. The Systems Engineer will work both independently and collaboratively to ensure that systems are designed, developed, and integrated to meet program and project objectives. The Systems Engineer must have experience with the Major Systems Acquisition Management (MSAM) and Non-Major Acquisition Program (NMAP) programs and the Systems Engineering Lifecycle (SELC) framework.
This role requires U.S. Citizenship due to Clearance requirements and may require an onsite presence at the USCG St. Elizabeths campus.

Responsibilities Include:
- Provide technical guidance and subject matter expertise to USCG stakeholders on systems engineering matters, including system design, development, and integration.
- Refine and implement USCG-focused SELC policies, processes, and procedures in support of MSAM/NMAP acquisition program management and governance.
- Conduct assessments of system software components, including design document reviews, code reviews, and testing, to ensure compliance with system requirements and standards.
- Support integration and testing of complex systems—overseeing system integration, testing, and validation—to ensure systems meet performance, security, and operational requirements.
- Develop and maintain accurate and up-to-date systems documentation, including system design documents, test plans, and technical reports.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software development, systems engineering, and acquisition stakeholders, to ensure cohesive system design and delivery.
- Perform systems analysis and risk assessments to identify potential issues and develop mitigation strategies.
- Develop and execute system validation and verification plans, including testing and validation procedures.
- Ensure compliance with system requirements, performance benchmarks, and security standards, and report deviations or issues to key stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field (e.g., Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent).
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in systems engineering, including experience with hardware, software, and firmware components.
- Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, methodologies, and best practices.
- Experience with system integration, testing, validation, and documentation.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience supporting Department of Homeland Security (DHS) or U.S. Coast Guard programs.
- Familiarity with USCG systems or large-scale enterprise integration efforts.
- Experience supporting the Acquisition Lifecycle
