Job Summary
The Senior Accountant supports comprehensive accounting operations for a fast-paced software technology company by assisting in ongoing accounting processes, contributing to efficient and accurate monthly close procedures, and supporting compliance efforts including audit, tax, and licensing requirements. This role combines technical accounting expertise with process improvement focus to enhance departmental efficiency while working closely with senior finance leadership in a collaborative cross-functional environment.
Essential Functions
The following duties are essential functions of this position. Employees must be able to perform these functions with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Complete monthly, quarterly, and year-end close tasks including creating accurate journal entries and performing detailed account reconciliations in accordance with US GAAP
- Assist in analyzing monthly financial results and presenting insights to the finance team
- Assist in preparation of annual audited financial statements and supporting documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with reporting standards
- Investigate complex accounting issues and research technical accounting guidance to ensure all transactions comply with US GAAP requirements
- Assist in the coordination and execution of multi-state tax requirements including obtaining customer exemption certificates, working with external partners for regulatory compliance, and collaborating with external accounting firms for accurate monthly filings
- Partner with external auditors for both UK and US entities, preparing detailed workpapers, coordinating information requests, and ensuring smooth audit processes
- Assist accounting team in partnering with external accounting firms to prepare annual income tax filings and respond proactively to inquiries from tax authorities
- Support in the execution of internal control procedures to ensure compliance with accounting policies and standards
- Perform other tasks and projects to support the finance and accounting department
Additional Responsibilities: Develop working partnerships with internal stakeholders across HR, Finance, Revenue Operations, IT, and Sales teams, identify process improvements that enhance efficiency and add strategic value, contribute to strategic accounting initiatives including systems implementations and automation projects.

Required Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
- Advanced coursework in intermediate accounting, auditing, or taxation preferred
Experience:
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience with month-end close procedures, financial statement preparation, and US GAAP compliance
- Demonstrated experience with audit support, tax compliance, and regulatory reporting
Skills & Competencies:
- Comprehensive knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality work under tight deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for investigating complex accounting issues and technical research

Skills:
- Advanced Excel skills including financial modeling, data analysis, and complex formulas
- Experience with accounting software systems including Xero and QuickBooks Online
- Knowledge of ERP systems, financial reporting tools, and business intelligence platforms

Work Environment:
- Location: Atlanta, Georgia preferred, will consider remote candidates Noise Level: Professional office environment with accounting operations focus and collaborative activities
- Travel Requirements: Less than 10% of time for training, professional development, or audit support
- Schedule: Standard business hours with regular extended hours during month-end close, quarter-end, year-end, and audit periods
