Summary
The Senior Specialist, Total Rewards is responsible for providing recommendations for benefits plan design; plan design implementation and ongoing administration; ownership of and advocacy for our corporate wellness initiatives; and support for all compensation activities and initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the development of employee health and welfare benefit strategies and contribution schemes; monitors claims utilization; manages open and new hire enrollments as well as life event changes; helps identify benefit offering gaps and recommends strategies.
- Seeks out new ideas/offerings to enhance existing wellness program and encourage participation; monitors program results and impact on medical plan claims experience; tailors wellness initiatives to specific population needs as indicated by medical claims experience in order to maximize plan ROI.
- Administers retirement plan; sets and attends plan investment review meetings; helps facilitate plan testing and reporting activities as required.
- Develops robust communication plan to educate and engage employees around all components of Asurint’s benefits program.
- Completes or assists in completion and submission of IRS Forms 5500; distributes required notices/disclosures.
- Collaborates with Payroll Specialist to update changes in compensation and/or benefit deductions and elections following enrollments and life event changes; serves a back-up to Payroll Specialist when needed.
- Reviews monthly carrier/provider invoices and submits for timely payment.
- Prepares reports by compiling summaries of benefits, deductions, or other related data as needed.
- Assists in market matching/pricing of Asurint jobs; updating and maintaining job descriptions; monitoring job classifications; and collaborates regarding changes in laws regulating compensation at the federal, state, or local level in areas where Asurint employs team members.
- Assists staff with general questions related to total rewards programs.
- Understands taxation of employee/employer-paid benefits and advises the company on appropriate tax qualification of various benefit programs; understands FLSA and other rules governing compensation; assists in monitoring all programs for compliance purposes and making necessary adjustments in response to rule changes.
- Conducts or participates in audits of rewards programs as needed and ensures proper documentation is maintained.
- Collaborates with HR team members to keep them apprised of total rewards updates/initiatives; supports or conducts necessary training for employees throughout the organization on benefits, wellness, and compensation matters; contributes to HR’s mission to provide high-touch service to Asurint team members.
- Manages vendors and outside service providers effectively; sets expectations and holds them accountable.
- Other duties as required.
- Experience managing/providing employee support for employee benefits plans is required.
- Experience managing third-party benefits brokers, vendors, and service providers is required.
- Experience creating job descriptions and evaluating job content is preferred.
- Attention to detail and a customer-service approach is required.
- Experience ensuring compliance with ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, FLSA and other applicable tax and employment laws is required.
- Experience with the legal/court system is preferred.
- Experience with background screening is preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required. Relevant business management systems such as general ledger, HRIS, CRM, etc. is preferred. Human capital management systems are required.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field is required.
- Certifications or licensure: Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) is preferred. If you do any work-related driving while at Asurint, a driver’s license and ability to maintain a driving record that is satisfactory to the company’s liability insurance carrier is required.
- Years of relevant experience: 5 years is preferred.

Working Conditions

- This position is performed remotely within the United States or in an office setting in the Cleveland, Ohio headquarters, although off-site meetings in various settings may occur.
- Inside Asurint’s office environment, the noise level is usually quiet to moderate.
- In a remote setting, the employee is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure work environment, for arranging the off-site workspace in an ergonomically sound manner, and for maintaining standard Internet speeds in order to work effectively.
- In a remote setting, the employee is required to ensure that all equipment and records that are the property of Asurint but have been relocated to the off-site workplace, are maintained in a safe and secure manner and are used only for business purposes.
- The schedule is generally normal Eastern Time Zone business hours (unless otherwise communicated based on position or working location), although the employee may be required to perform work, attend meetings and events before or after normal workings hours, and occasionally on weekends and evenings.
- Some travel by personal automobile and a valid driver’s license may be required. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
- Ability to lift light objects (less than 20 pounds) and carry them short distances (20 feet or less) is required.
