Pawnee Mental Health Services is seeking a Chief Advancement and Engagement Officer to lead organizational advancement efforts, including marketing, development, fundraising, and community engagement. This role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and serves as a member of the organization’s Management Team.
The Chief Advancement and Engagement Officer will provide strategic leadership to enhance organizational visibility, strengthen community partnerships, and support sustainable philanthropic and business growth aligned with Pawnee’s mission as a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC).
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership and Advancement
- Develop and implement an integrated advancement strategy encompassing fundraising, marketing, communications, and business development
- Identify opportunities to strengthen community engagement, partnerships, and organizational visibility
- Collaborate with internal teams to improve processes that support productivity, client experience, and organizational effectiveness
Fundraising and Resource Development
- Lead development strategies to secure financial and in-kind support, including annual giving and capital campaigns
- Identify and cultivate donor relationships and new funding opportunities
- Oversee grant proposal development and compliance for local, state, and federal funding sources
- Coordinate donor stewardship, recognition, and database management
- Provide regular reporting to the CEO and Boards on fundraising performance
- Organize and facilitate development-related workgroups
Marketing, Communications, and Community Relations
- Develop and manage an integrated marketing and communications plan
- Oversee digital presence, media relations, and public messaging
- Serve as the organization’s Public Information Officer (PIO)
- Ensure consistent messaging that supports community education and awareness
Business Development and Client Growth
- Identify and cultivate referral relationships and strategic partnerships
- Support outreach strategies that enhance client engagement and retention
- Analyze trends and data to inform growth and community needs assessments
Program Oversight and Collaboration
- Provide strategic oversight of the Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
- Partner across departments to improve development operations, grant processes, and business opportunities
- Support staff and Board understanding of advancement initiatives
Professional and Ethical Standards
- Maintain knowledge of nonprofit advancement, behavioral health trends, and best practices
- Adhere to organizational policies, ethical standards, and Code of Conduct
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required:
- Master’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3 year of experience in annual giving, capital campaigns, foundation/corporate solicitations, deferred giving, communications, and special events.
- Strong oral and written communication skills using the English language.
- Ability to operate basic office equipment.
- Microsoft Office skills, sufficient to efficiently prepare correspondence, track data, and make presentations.
Preferred:
- Fundraising experience in a non-profit setting.
