General Role Description
Assists with transportation of residents and monitors the program during assigned shifts while ensuring the safety of the residents and program site.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Transports residents to appointments, self-help meetings, events, and other activities.
• Performs breathalyzer testing and toxicology screenings upon return from outings as needed.
• Coordinates transportation plan with onsite staff.
• Monitors the program site and residents in order to ensure the safety of residents is maintained.
• Maintains driver’s license and obtains continued education regarding safe driving measures.
• Operates agency vehicles safely.
• Inspects vehicles used daily in order to ensure compliance with all safety standards.
• Assists with vehicle maintenance logs and regular preventative maintenance as assigned.
• Ensures agency vehicles are kept fueled and in a clean and presentable appearance.
• Responds to crisis and emergency situations accordingly.
• Responds to all immediate social or housekeeping issues as they arise.
• Inputs data into the agency database as requested by site supervisor.
• Performs general program tasks as needed (e.g., answering telephones, filing, shopping, assisting with kitchen responsibilities, etc.).
• Responds to vehicle issues and emergencies as they arise.
• Attends and participates in all individual program and agency activities as required.
• Attends and participates in all job-related workshops and in-service trainings
• Possesses a general knowledge of contagious diseases (i.e., HIV, Hepatitis B, TB etc.) and takes precautionary measures to limit transmission. Also, responds professionally and responsibly to incidents involving contagious diseases.
• Assists in the implementation of the agency’s policies and procedures.
• Is mindful of and integrates Trauma-Informed Care and its five principles in all duties and interactions with fellow staff, residents, and external partners.
• Maintains compliance with all required rules and regulations including Federal Confidentiality (42 CFR, Part 2), HIPAA, Medicaid and/or HUD, and any others.
• Carries out other duties essential to the above stated responsibilities as assigned.
• Regular attendance at work location.
• Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
• Previous experience with transportation; and
• A high school or equivalency diploma with a minimum of 6 months’ experience of human services experience; and
• Must possess a valid New York State driver’s license.
