Job Description:
We are seeking an Associate Technical Writer to join our team and help document complex applications and software systems. The ideal candidate has strong writing skills, is comfortable learning new tools and technologies, and can translate technical concepts into clear, concise, user-friendly documentation. In this role, you will work closely with experienced technical writers, engineering, and product teams to produce manuals, user guides, release notes, and online help content that enhance the user experience. - Are comfortable learning and documenting complex apps, including desktop, Android, and web applications.
- Can describe app interaction workflows and user interfaces in clear, task-focused language.
- Can follow and apply structured templates to write detailed, organized documentation.
- Have strong composition, grammar, and proofreading skills.
- Are willing to learn about the software lifecycle and work in a fast-paced agile environment.
- Can manage basic documentation tasks, reviews, and updates with guidance from senior writers.
- Are able to learn new tools and software quickly with support and direction.
- Are interested in helping maintain an organized information architecture for documentation sets.
- Have some experience writing or editing content such as reports, tutorials, manuals, or online help.
- Are proficient in authoring and editing documentation in Markdown and comfortable working in Git or similar version control systems.

- Have experience editing content for clarity, completeness, and consistency against a style guide.
- Are good at spotting inconsistencies in organization, terminology, or flow.
- Are comfortable revising and rewriting content based on feedback.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Technical Communication, or a related field; or equivalent coursework / internship experience.
- 1-3 years of experience writing, editing, or developing technical or instructional materials.
- Experience authoring documentation in Markdown and using Git or a similar version control system.
- Familiarity with Jira or a similar ticketing system is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Self-starter who is willing to learn and can work with guidance from senior staff.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks with support.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Must obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
- Must be a US citizen.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.

Salary Range:
The proposed salary range is reflective across all Sherpa 6 locations, years of experience, and skill levels. Salary negotiations will be based on a host of factors including but not limited to your geographic location, prior experience, relevant skills, education, and certifications.
