SUMMARY: The Director of Development works as an integral part of the Administrative Team. The Director of Development will perform, but not limited to the following duties: research, proposal writing and program design, monitoring, evaluation, grant tracking and reporting. This position may require a flexible schedule including 1st and 2nd shifts. The agency has the right to change shifts based on the needs of the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Position Specific Duties
- Develop and implement a strategic plan to raise vital funds in a cost-effective and time-efficient manner.
- Research foundations, corporation and government contract opportunities.
- Identify and steward prospective donors.
- Engage with organizations to solicit invitations to submit proposals.
- Prepare letters of intent, proposals, grant applications, and supporting documents in response to solicitations.
- Execute major proposal writing and program design.
- Develop and maintain a grant management system to track, record and maintain a schedule of proposals and reports due.
- Liaison with donors on grant implementation, compliance and reporting matters.
- Preparation and submission of grant amendments to comply with funder deadlines.
- Attends relevant professional development conferences and makes presentations to donors when requested.
- Prepares monthly and quarterly reports on delivery of proposals submitted and received.
- Ability to climb three flights of stairs to deal with emergencies.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations by placing calls to Fire, Rescue, Police, and Medical etc.
Administrative Tasks:
- Complete all required documentations in a timely manner.
- Perform program recordkeeping, filing, and the organization of vital documents.
- Provide telephone coverage for the assigned program and direct calls to other programs as needed.
- Participate in required supervisions staff meetings and trainings.
- Participate and cooperate in any investigations conducted by internal and external agencies.
- Ability to use a computer including inputting information into data systems.
Compliance Requirements:
- Remain awake during your shift at all times.
- Attend all mandatory trainings and update all licenses and certifications.
- Adhere to program/project/department requirements and services.
- Follow all reporting guidelines by deadlines including the completion of a Confidential Incident Report.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The Director of Development must perform each essential function satisfactorily. - Master’s in business administration degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in oversight of agency development and grant writing.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in leadership and management.
- Superior attention to written and verbal communication, detail, organizational skills, analytical skills, computer skills and multi-tasking skills.
- Good working knowledge of computers, electronic health records and data collection.
- Requires valid driver’s license due to business-related travel.
