Turning Pointe Autism Foundation creates opportunities and programs to educate individuals with autism through proven interventions to increase independence, encourage meaningful lifelong pursuits, and enrich the community at large.


Turning Pointe Autism Foundation has the CN Therapeutic Day School created to meet the specific and unique needs of students learning with autism, and Foglia Family Adult Services, which is comprised of the Compass Class Pilot Program and Employment Training Program. These services are designed for adult students to assist with communication, socially appropriate behaviors, functional living, and employment skills.


Job Title: Foundation Intern

Reports to: Development Officer - Events & Partners

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Type: Part-time Temporary/Internship

TPAF Calendar: 12 weeks, renewable


Qualifications: High school degree (or equivalent) preferred


Location: Work to be performed at Turning Pointe Autism Foundation at 1500 W Ogden Avenue, Naperville, IL 60540, and occasionally off-site for local events.


Position Summary: Under the direction of the division head and with the support of program staff (Development Officer, Job Coach, or similar), this position will experience a multi-disciplinary job function, rotating through various areas of non-profit management. You will focus on learning the organization's mission and assisting in accomplishing the Foundation’s goals. This intern will help manage a multitude of projects and community engagement initiatives with key Foundation leadership. 

 

Essential Job Functions:

Assist Administration with functions to include:

  • Learn standard operating procedures for the Foundation office departments: administration, accounting, fundraising, events, social media and enterprise services.
  • Assist Key leadership team with special projects, research, and organizational goals as needed.
  • Assist in elevating the enterprises to benefit our student employees via coffee and pumpkin kits.
  • Foster awareness of Turning Pointe and our programs with community outreach efforts.
    • Attend events within community: university, resource, chamber fairs with TP liaison as needed
    • Seeking local business sponsorships for the Pumpkin Race as needed
  • Identify potential customers through research of target companies and decision-makers using tools like LinkedIn and sales platforms.
  • Engage prospects to understand their needs and determine if they are a good fit for the product or service.
  • Make initial calls and send personalized emails to prospective clients, and use social media to connect with potential customers.
  • Track and book initial discovery calls or meetings for Account Executives or senior sales team members to help them measure the success of different outreach strategies.
  • Accurately log all activities, contacts, and sales data in the CRM system.
  • Work closely with the Development team to align messaging and provide feedback from prospects.
  • Assist Development Officer and Events Intern with event coordination as needed.
  • Social media content creation for the enterprise businesses as directed.
  • Working with the Social Media Intern, assimilate social media strategy for the upcoming year as directed.
  • Track and analyze social media performance, identifying areas for improvement with the social media intern as needed.
  • Perform clerical duties, email communication, maintain files, and organize documents; photocopying, shredding, and all related types of office activities as directed.
  • Manage databases and input of information, data, and records as directed.
  • Perform other work and responsibilities as assigned.

Compensation: $15-$17/hour

Requirements

Experience & Skills:

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), Knowledge of Canva a plus
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and their best practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Customer service skills and the ability to interact with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-directed and able to work without supervision
  • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas

Physical Demands:

  • May include lifting and supporting up to 50 pounds
  • May be required to bend, stoop, and kneel
  • Ability to work at a desk, conference table, or in meetings of various configurations
  • Ability to stand and circulate for extended periods of time
  • Moderate to high-stress levels
  • Daily contact with students, teachers, and school staff
  • Regular contact with parents, community members, and outside agency personnel
  • May be exposed to contact with individuals displaying physically aggressive, self-abusive, or socially undesirable behavior
Salary Description
$15-$17/hour
