Position Summary
The Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Sound Income Group’s internal automation platform and supporting systems. This position plays a key role in building scalable, reliable software solutions that improve operational efficiency and support business growth.
The Software Engineer will own projects end-to-end- from requirements and design through development, deployment, and ongoing optimization- while collaborating closely with a small, experienced, cross-functional team. This role offers hands-on exposure to modern web technologies, scalable system architecture, and the practical challenges of delivering and supporting production software in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain internal software applications and systems that support Sound Income Group’s business operations, advisor network, and growth initiatives.
- Serve as a hands-on contributor, writing clean, scalable, and well-documented code while owning features and technical components end-to-end.
- Lead technical projects from planning through implementation, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and aligned with defined quality standards.
- Translate business requirements into effective technical solutions by collaborating closely with Operations, Finance, Marketing, Compliance, and Leadership teams.
- Manage and support internal infrastructure, including development tools, software platforms, system integrations, and environments, ensuring reliability, security, and performance.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues, proactively addressing risks, dependencies, and system bottlenecks.
- Establish and follow best practices for coding standards, testing, version control, deployment, and technical documentation.
- Ensure all technical solutions comply with internal policies, security standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and support to internal team members, helping remove impediments and improve overall system quality.
- Contribute to technical strategy and roadmaps by identifying opportunities for automation, system optimization, and the adoption of new technologies.
- Stay current on emerging technologies and development trends, evaluating their applicability and making informed recommendations to leadership.
- Manage technical stakeholders, including internal users and external vendors or partners, ensuring expectations, timelines, and deliverables are met.
Must-Have Qualifications
Background and Experience
- 3-5 years of hands-on programming experience
- Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Financial services experience will be preferred
- Behavior-driven or test-driven development preferred
Technology Expertise:
- Node.js
- Database (SQL)
- GIT
- RESTful Web Services
- HTML/CSS/JavaScript
- React.js
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) or other cloud platform preferred
- Jenkins CI/CD pipeline experience
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to work for extended periods at a desk using a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds if/when necessary.
- Routine use of telephone and email.
- Office-based role with potential travel to conferences, events, and satellite offices as needed.
