JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director of Business Operations, the Pricing & Proposal Sr. Analyst is responsible for assisting in the request for proposals and proposal/pricing process in partnership with IMS Consultants and Sales teams. The ideal candidate has strong proposal and pricing experience in the legal space, critical attention to detail, and the ability to provide strategic business development support.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with service line department heads, consultants, and sales to develop and deliver high-quality proposal documents and project cost estimates
- Maintain the firm’s proposal content in collaboration with marketing to ensure materials are up-to-date, consistent, and brand compliant
- Develop and implement proposal processes, manage continuous improvement to those processes, and maintain/administrate the proposal engine
- Participate in scoping sessions with consultants to develop proposal themes and messages, as well as prepare sales teams for client presentations with multi-service offerings
- Conduct information gathering sessions with relevant Business Development (BD) teams to clarify requirements, client needs, and approaches
- Collaborate with BD teams, consultants, and marketing resources in gathering and compiling information for developing credentials statements, pitch documents, and responses to requests for proposals
- Analyze RFP requests for compliance requirements, instructions, and evaluation criteria, and perform other bid management tasks such as developing bid plans and templates and liaising with internal SMEs to produce high-quality documents
- Prepare consultants and sales teams for client meetings, including developing scripts, talking points, and additional supporting pitch documents
- Activities will also include analyzing proposal requirements, coordinating and preparing estimates, and supporting internal proposal reviews and possible client negotiations
- Initiate process improvements to enhance pricing and estimating functions and provide day-to-day direction and guidance to Lead Consultant/Department Leadership
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Extensive knowledge and proven history of implementing digital proposal platforms and content management tools
- Experience with pricing/analysis models and understanding of the CPQ process for streamlining and generating accurate quotes for complex projects
- Comfortable working in a high-pressure environment and have a strong understanding of effective proposal and business development strategies
- Demonstrate superior writing/language skills and the ability to convey complex technical information in reader-friendly language
EDUCATION & TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years of experience working in a business development role or in a proposal/pricing response role
- Bachelor’s degree required (preferably in Business, Marketing, or Economics) or equivalent experience
- 4+ years’ experience in professional services preferred, with knowledge of law firms and legal industry a plus
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong writing and editing skills
- Experience in Pricing, Estimating, Finance, or other Business Operations functions
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with AP and Chicago style guidelines
- Excellent project management skills and strong attention to detail
- Lean Six Sigma certification is a plus
- Handle multiple projects simultaneously and with a high sense of urgency
- Work well when faced with critical deadlines, works efficiently under pressure, and produce a high volume of accurate work
- Exercise critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Possess a high aptitude for conducting detailed legal research and understanding case progression
- Function well in a team setting as both motivator and support player
- Experience managing tasks and collaborating with department heads on key initiatives
