Who We Are
ButcherBox is a fast-paced, rapidly-growing company headquartered in Brighton, MA. At ButcherBox, we believe in better. That’s why we deliver 100% grass-fed, grass-finished beef, free-range organic chicken, heritage-breed pork, and wild-caught seafood directly to our members’ doors. All of our products are humanely raised or wild-caught and never given antibiotics or added hormones ever.
We’re working to build a world that’s better for all, and we’re inviting everyone to come along. For us, better means treating our planet with respect. It means improving the lives of animals and the livelihoods of farmers. It means never cutting corners when it comes to doing business. Ultimately, it means better meals, enjoyed together. Our team is made up of people who collaborate and support one another. We’re always looking for outstanding people to join our mission!
Our Engineering Team
Our software engineering team is responsible for the systems that run our business. We maintain many different codebases - from the services and third-party integrations that handle subscriptions, billing, and shipping, to our customer-facing e-commerce website.
We work in two-week agile sprints, including daily standup meetings and bi-weekly planning and retrospective meetings. We value strong attention to detail, initiative, curiosity, humility, and open communication. Because we believe in personal accountability, we place a large amount of autonomy on our engineers.
Who You Are
We're looking for someone who will actively learn and embrace the technology and tools we use, quickly learning from others and consistently stepping up where required. They'll be maintaining and developing software and automated tests.
Our ideal candidate is someone with 3 years of proven ability building web applications using frameworks like Reach, Vue, and Angular, and experience with tools such as Webpack, Typescript, Babel, and Cypress. They should have a strong understanding of HTML, CSS, and modern ES6, and an ability to debug layout and browser compatibility issues.
What Success Looks Like
By the 90-day point, we expect that a new Engineer will have familiarized enough with our current tech stack, tools, and processes that they can be actively contributing features and bug fixes to our production systems.
Six months in, an Engineer in our organization should be designing and implementing increasingly larger features, and should be helping to hold their other team members accountable to our standards and process.
