Position Summary:
The Accounting Manager plays a critical role in maintaining the financial health of our agency by overseeing key accounting operations. This position is responsible for analyzing and improving accounting systems and processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining strong internal controls.
Collaboration is essential—this role works closely with other departments to address accounting-related needs and provide guidance. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment, adapts quickly to shifting priorities, and manages daily activities across multiple accounting functions, which may include general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
This position is primarily in the office, with the possibility of some hybrid days after training is completed.
Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 annually

Essential Functions*:
· Supervises two or more AP Specialists.
· Supports the grants specialist and staff accountant.
· Fosters a culture of learning and teamwork.
· Reviews and approves coding and processing of expense transactions, to ensure accuracy and compliance; prepares daily AP batches and coordinates approvals/transmittals with leadership.
· Uploads positive pay and ACH files into the online bank portal.
· Coordinates approval and transmittal of monthly bank draft transactions.
· Provides superior customer service to internal departments and collaborates across departments to improve efficiency, ensuring smooth financial operations.
· Completes assigned general ledger journal entries and account reconciliations, reviewing and approving reconciliations and journal entries prepared by AP specialists.
· Manages the company's credit card account, including user and card maintenance.
· Oversees month-end closing process and reporting for JFS Altius Farms.
· Identifies opportunities to improve accounts payable and other accounting processes, leading initiatives to enhance efficiency and accelerate outcomes.
· Maintains assigned expense schedules and ensures proper documentation.
· Assists in producing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting and analysis, providing insights to support strategic decision-making.
· Oversees the annual 1099 filing process to ensure timely and accurate filing.
· Supports the agency’s annual audit process by ensuring timely completion of assigned audit documentation requests and schedules.
· Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· This position is responsible for supervising staff, including assigning work; providing coaching, feedback, and support; conducting performance evaluations; and supporting professional development.
Work Environment:
In-Office Position:
Work is primarily performed in our office at 3201 South Tamarac Dr., Denver 80231. Work hours are generally during regular business hours, with some evening or weekend work as required to meet program or client needs.

Qualifications:
· Education/Experience:
- Preferred bachelor’s/master’s degree in accounting and at least three years of experience, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum five years of non-profit accounting experience preferred.
- Prior management experience preferred.
· Other:
- Experience working with Financial Edge accounting software preferred.
- Organize, prioritize, and delegate tasks, and meet deadlines while handling multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) and nonprofit accounting standards.
- Financial reporting and managing monthly and year-end close processes.
- Ability to lead and mentor a team with supervisory experience valued.
- Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modeling) with the ability to analyze complex financial data.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with various levels of staff, including program managers, directors, and external auditors.
- Willingness to identify areas of improvement, develop and implement new, streamlined processes, policies, and internal controls.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
