Position Summary:

In this role, you’ll dive deep into analyzing and optimizing accounting systems and processes, lead first-level internal control reviews, and drive accurate financial reporting, insightful analysis, and forward-looking forecasting. Your expertise will help shape smarter decisions and strengthen our financial foundation.
Following successful completion of training, the role may be performed in a hybrid capacity, with the majority of the time in the office.
Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 annually

Essential Functions*:
· Responsible for review of Accounting systems and processes for efficiency gains and risk mitigation.
· Responsible for first-level review and management of internal controls processes.
· Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
· Responsible for assigned general ledger and account reconciliation.
· Provide forecasts and analysis of expenditures for assigned grants and personnel expenses.
· Support the Staff Accountant with revenue recognition, including Raiser’s Edge donation reconciliation.
· Assist with annual departmental budget preparation.
· Provides superior customer service to internal departments and collaborates across departments to improve efficiency, ensuring smooth financial operations.
· Completes assigned general ledger journal entries and account reconciliations, reviewing and approving reconciliations and journal entries prepared by AP specialists.
· Assure that assigned month-end closing activities are completed within the timeframes set.
· Provide cross-coverage for accounting operations, including preparing A/P and A/R billing and payroll.
· Assist Department Directors with information regarding budgets and analysis of information on monthly financial statements.
· Assist with the annual company audit processes, including preparing reconciliations and schedules as needed.
· Prepare and post journal entries.
· Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
· In-Office (Hybrid possible) Position: Work is primarily performed in our office at 3201 South Tamarac Dr., Denver 80231. Position may be eligible for a hybrid schedule with a combination of remote and in-office work. Work hours are generally during regular business hours, with some evening or weekend work as required to meet program needs.

Qualifications:
· Education/Experience:
- Preferred bachelor’s degree in accounting and at least three years of experience, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum three years of non-profit accounting experience preferred.
· Other:
- Experience working with Financial Edge accounting software preferred.
- Organize, prioritize, and delegate tasks, and meet deadlines while handling multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) and nonprofit accounting standards.
- Financial reporting and monthly and year-end close process experience.
- Strong analytical skills including variance review and providing recommended resolution.
- Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modeling) with the ability to analyze complex financial data.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with various levels of staff, including program managers, directors, and external auditors.
- Willingness to identify areas of improvement, develop and implement new, streamlined processes, policies, and internal controls.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
