LOCATION: This remote role is responsible for traveling in Northern Michigan region. Only candidates living in Michigan will be considered.


POSITION SUMMARY

The League Representative serves as the primary liaison between MCUL/CUSG and Michigan credit unions within an assigned region. This role is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with credit union leadership, promoting the value of League affiliation, and ensuring credit unions understand and fully utilize MCUL membership benefits, resources, and support. The League Representative develops a deep understanding of each credit union’s operations, strategic priorities, and challenges in order to identify opportunities where MCUL and CUSG products, services, partnerships, and best practices can strengthen performance, enhance member experience, or support long-term growth. The position also generates and qualifies sales leads, provides consultative guidance, facilitates product and service connections, and serves as a trusted resource to credit unions for information, strategic insight, and industry expertise.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

· Serve as the primary relationship manager for assigned credit unions, conducting regular on-site and virtual visits to understand their operations, strategic priorities, and emerging needs.

· Educate credit unions on the full value of MCUL membership, ensuring they understand and take advantage of available benefits, resources, advocacy support, and collaborative opportunities.

· Maintain a deep understanding of credit union operations to accurately identify opportunities where MCUL and CUSG products, services, and partnerships can strengthen performance, member experience, or operational efficiency.

· Recommend tailored solutions based on each credit union’s goals, challenges, and strategic direction, facilitating introductions to appropriate MCUL/CUSG teams, partners, or resources.

· Present, demonstrate, and support the adoption of MCUL and CUSG products and services.

· Build and maintain strong, ongoing executive-level relationships by meeting with each assigned credit union CEO at least twice annually.

· Track outreach, credit union engagement, identified needs, referrals, sales opportunities, and service follow-up in the designated CRM or sales database.

· Represent MCUL at chapter meetings, credit union events, conferences, and vendor engagements to strengthen relationships and promote league initiatives.

· Communicate key MCUL and CUSG initiatives through written and verbal updates, ensuring credit unions remain informed on industry trends, advocacy, education, and available support.

· Serve as a trusted resource for credit unions by responding to inquiries and connecting them with relevant information, subject-matter experts, or partner solutions.

· Collaborate with internal MCUL and CUSG teams to share field insights and support statewide strategic priorities.

· Perform additional related duties as required to support league goals and credit union success.


SKILLS & ABILITIES

· Strong adaptability and ability to adjust to changing needs, priorities, and credit union environments.

· Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and group communication skills, including the ability to present to executive leadership and staff teams.

· Demonstrated consultative and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with credit union personnel at all levels.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess operational needs and recommend appropriate MCUL/CUSG solutions.

· Ability to work independently, manage a large geographic territory, and prioritize multiple ongoing relationships with minimal supervision.

· Effective time-management and organizational skills, with the ability to track activities, follow up on leads, and meet deadlines.

· Ability to identify and translate credit union operational challenges, member-experience issues, or strategic opportunities into actionable recommendations.

· Comfortable learning and understanding financial services processes, such as card-processing systems, strategic planning methodologies, or operational workflows.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CRM systems, virtual meeting platforms, and standard business technology.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

· Bachelor’s degree and three to five years of professional experience; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.

· Thorough knowledge of credit union operations, including at least two years of progressive experience in a financial services–related role (credit union experience strongly preferred).

· Special consideration will be given to candidates who:

· Understand the inner workings of a credit union, including operational workflows and member-service structures.

· Have experience with the cards/payments environment (e.g., FIS or other card-processing systems).

· Possess a background in strategic planning, organizational development, or process improvement.

· Are eager and willing to learn these areas if not already experienced.

· Demonstrated ability to build relationships and engage confidently with executive leaders, staff teams, and external partners.

· Strong analytical and consultative skills, with the ability to assess credit union needs and recommend appropriate solutions.

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including comfort presenting to groups and facilitating discussions.

· Strong computer proficiency, including MS Office applications, virtual meeting platforms, and the ability to learn CRM or sales-tracking tools.

· Proven ability to work independently, manage a multi-county or large geographic territory, and prioritize multiple ongoing relationships and projects.

· Previous sales, consulting, or trade association experience is preferred.

· Must possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel regularly throughout assigned regions.
