JOB SUMMARY: The Team Leader of the ChAMPS program (Children and Adolescent Mobile Psychiatric Service) answers the ChAMPS main hotline number to provide screening and assignment of cases to the program and its staff in accordance with best practice standards of the profession, contract/grant requirements, and all agency policy and procedures. This position provides back-up to the Clinical Manager and perform assigned administrative functions on behalf of the program. The Team Leader partners with a team of Crisis Specialists to provide rapid mobile response and crisis assessment and to assist with the stabilization or psychiatric hospitalization (when necessary) of children and adolescents ages 6-17, including youth up to age 21 when in the care and custody of DC Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA).  To ensure the program has staffing coverage during the holidays, all staff are required to work a rotating holiday schedule 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Report and provide back up and support to the Clinical Managers.
  • Provide appropriate support to Crisis Specialist during deployments.
  • Assist with training new staff and interns.
  • Maintain quality clinical practices and serves as a role model to staff for quality improvement.
  • Follow-up with clients, parents, adults/caregivers to ensure understanding of the crisis intervention follow up and process.
  • Support regular team meetings and daily exchange of case assignments.
  • Respond to children in crisis to de-escalate, assess the clinical needs of the client and determine eligibility for services.
  • Develop and maintain client case records and write clinical notes.
  • Conduct monthly ride-along and shadowing of teams for quality review. 
  • Work with families, schools and other agencies to coordinate and facilitate services to clients.
  • Conduct outreach sessions to schools, communities, hospitals and stakeholders.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s in Social Work, Mental Health, Counseling, Psychology, or related field.
  • Licensed clinician in relevant discipline (LGSW, LGPC, LICSW, LPC) in the District of Columbia (required) and the state of Maryland (preferred).
  • Three (3) years’ experience leading, supervising or managing workloads and case assignments. 
  • Experience in related field of Crisis Response and/or Crisis Intervention preferred.
  • Experience with community outreach and development.
  • Driving is required. Must have valid local driver’s license and clean driving record.

SKILLS and COMPETENCIES:

  • Skilled in crisis intervention, case management, co-occurring disorder treatment and administrative reporting.
  • Clinical judgment and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with clients in a diverse community and demonstrate cultural competency.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8 hour shifts (8am-4pm or 10am-6pm or 12pm-8pm)
