Position Summary: 

We are seeking a dedicated Farm Team Member to support operations on weekends to ensure our customers receive high-quality products. This role focuses on key aspects of greenhouse and garden farming, with a primary emphasis on culinary mushroom container production. Responsibilities include cleaning, harvesting, seeding, inoculating, pasteurizing, and transplanting, all using organic farming methods. Additional tasks may involve weighing, packaging, and labeling products to maintain quality standards.

Schedule:

Saturday and Sunday, approximately 6 hours per day.  The time of the shift can be flexible.

Salary:  $20.00 per hour

 Essential Functions:

• Responsible for greenhouse and container cleaning (use of shop vacuums, pressure washers, brooms, mops, and cleaning rags). • Responsible for cleaning with bleach, vinegar, food-grade sanitizers, and Isopropyl alcohol daily. 

• Supports the Farm Manager, temporary or contract workers, or volunteers. 

• Participates in seeding and transplanting. 

• Harvests plants indoors and outdoors with scissors and packages produce and culinary mushrooms. 

• Trims plants with scissors indoors and outdoors. 

• Harvests mushrooms with X-Acto blades/knives. 

• Responsible for trash and recycling disposal. 

• Maintains food safety in compliance with farm guidelines. 

• Engages in pest management, mushroom care, and harvesting as needed. 

• Wears appropriate PPE (respirator mask, rain covering, boots) for some duties as necessary. 

• Other duties as assigned.

  Qualifications: 

• Education/Experience: 

• Preferred one to three years of experience in a restaurant or farming operation. 
• Preferred experience in outdoor and/or indoor farming operations. 
• Preferred experience in food safety and cleanliness. 

• Other: 

• Passion for sustainable farming and food production. 
• Ability to work independently but part of a team. 
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment. 
• Strong organizational skills. 
• Ability to provide good client and customer service. 
• This job requires being pleasant with others on the job and displaying a cooperative attitude while being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks.
• Attention to detail when following standard operating procedures and data entry into spreadsheets. 

Work Environment:  Outdoors Position: 

• Work is primarily performed at JFS Altius Farms at 2500 Lawrence St, Denver, CO 80205. 
• This position requires working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat and cold. 
• Work hours are Saturday and Sunday.  

Physical requirements: 

• Frequently using hands to control or feel objects or tools
• Climb and stand on step stools and small ladders for extended periods of time.
• Visual acuity to be able to work with seeds, seedlings, and other small items. 
• Long periods of standing are required. 
• Frequently required to lift up to 50 pounds.
