Job Title: Compensation & Benefits ~
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Compensation & Benefits ~ leads the strategy, design, implementation, and administration of the organization’s compensation and benefits programs. This role ensures all programs are competitive, cost-effective, and aligned with company objectives and regulatory requirements. This role collaborates with senior leadership and HR teams to attract, retain, and motivate top talent through effective total rewards strategies.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, implement, and manage compensation and benefits policies, programs, and procedures.
- Oversee the design and administration of salary structures, incentive plans, and executive compensation.
- Lead the evaluation and selection of health, dental, life insurance, retirement, and other benefit plans.
- Monitor market trends and conduct benchmarking analyses to ensure competitiveness and compliance.
- Advise senior management on compensation and benefits strategies, including recommendations for plan changes and enhancements.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to compensation and benefits.
- Manage relationships with external vendors, brokers, and consultants.
- Oversee the administration of stock option and long-term incentive plans.
- Provide guidance and support to HR and management teams regarding compensation and benefits issues.
- Prepare and present reports on compensation and benefits metrics to leadership.?

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in compensation and benefits management.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong knowledge of compensation and benefits laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Comprehensive knowledge of ERISA’s requirements for retirement and health benefit plans, including fiduciary responsibilities, plan administration, reporting, and disclosure rules.
- Familiarity with related laws such as COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, and ACA, and how they interact with ERISA.
- Experience designing, implementing, and administering qualified retirement plans (e.g., 401(k), pension plans) and welfare benefit plans in compliance with ERISA.
- Oversight of annual filings such as Form 5500 and Summary Annual Reports (SAR), and ensuring timely and accurate completion.
- Ability to review and interpret plan documents, contracts, and Summary Plan Descriptions for compliance.
- Managing and responding to Department of Labor audits and inquiries.
- Proactive identification and resolution of compliance issues, including plan corrections and voluntary compliance programs.
- Working directly with carriers, vendors, brokers, and ERISA attorneys to finalize contracts and resolve compliance matters.
- Coordinating with external consultants for ongoing compliance support and research.
- Developing and delivering communication materials to educate employees about their rights and responsibilities under ERISA.
- Leading open enrollment meetings and providing guidance on plan changes and compliance updates.
- Experience with HRIS and benefits administration systems.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
