SUMMARY: The Wastewater Treatment Operator operates and maintain the Wastewater Treatment Plant system safely and reliably, ensuring environmental compliance.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Startup, operate and shutdown the system through remote controls, video display terminals (VDTs) and keyboards.
- Determine and manage all needed flow rates through system, including sludge volumes.
- Manage operation of Kason screen and HACH monitoring system.
- Serve as lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) authority for wastewater system.
- Oversee chemical unloads
- Conduct routine sample collection and lab analysis.
- Perform rounds
- Support Plant as needed
- Perform routine maintenance and PMs on equipment.
- Troubleshoot various pieces of equipment and systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm
OT and weekend work as required
Salary Range:
$23-$28 per hour
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Successful completion of post-high school courses in engineering mathematics, physical science and/or technical oriented studies. Three years’ experience in industrial wastewater treatment. Experience with personal computers and applications software systems.
Training, Skills, Licenses: Must possess technical aptitude to understand and direct the operation of multiple inter-related systems. Ability to understand the function of and closely observes inputs from many instruments and controls. Ability to make timely, logical decisions. Effectively prioritize tasks. Be a reliable, contributing team member. Communicate clearly in writing and orally. Ability to obtain and maintain required classes and any licensing required by the state and county.
WORKING CONDITIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear. The employee is frequently exposed to wet, loud, cold, and/or humid conditions. The employee is frequently required to walk, use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, rotate or twist, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 70 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
