Description
We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Accountant to take on diverse responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset, along with the ability to adapt to new processes and proactively improve them.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform weekly and monthly bank reconciliations, including high-volume cash, credit card, and third-party deposits
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of cash, ACH, and other disbursements
- Partner with internal teams to investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies
- Compile data and prepare monthly sales and use tax returns
- Coordinate timely payment of sales tax deposits
- Monitor sales tax rate and exemption changes and support system updates as needed
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, reclasses, and recurring entries
- Record bank fees, credit card processing fees, and interest transactions
- Account for third-party service activity, including deposits, adjustments, and accruals
- Reconcile high-risk balance sheet accounts and assist with variance analysis
- Review income statement expenses and provide explanations for fluctuations
- Support financial statements, internal reporting, allocations, roll-forwards, and tie-outs
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 5+ years of accounting experience; public accounting experience a plus
- CPA or MBA preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, including debit/credit accounting, complex reconciliations, and variance analysis
- Experience with general ledger systems and large ERP environments
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs)
- Self-starter with strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Proven ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities
- Proactive mindset focused on process improvement and automation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
