We’re seeking an Assistant Engineering Manager to support our Chief Engineer in maintaining a safe, efficient, and beautifully maintained resort environment. What You’ll Do
Lead & Inspire
- Support the Chief Engineer in overseeing daily engineering and maintenance operations
- Train, mentor, and coach engineering team members to drive accountability, growth, and engagement
- Lead by example with professionalism, integrity, and a solutions-focused approach
- Provide leadership coverage across shifts, including weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations
Hands-On Engineering & Maintenance
- Assist with planning and executing preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime
- Perform and oversee repairs across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, drywall, mechanical systems, and general building maintenance
- Support basic IT and A/V troubleshooting as needed
- Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas
- Assist with capital projects, renovations, and special maintenance initiatives
Safety, Compliance & Organization
- Promote a safe, clean, and organized work environment
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, life safety standards, company policies, and local/state/federal codes
- Assist with safety training, inspections, and compliance documentation
Systems, Inventory & Vendors
- Manage work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, and reporting using a CMMS
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities and inspections
- Assist with tracking expenses, managing inventory, and supporting department budgets
- Coordinate and oversee outside contractors and vendors to ensure quality and safety standards
Requirements
What We’re Looking For
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3–5 years of progressive engineering or maintenance experience
- At least 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, drywall, mechanical systems, and general building maintenance
- Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals
- Basic to intermediate computer skills, including CMMS or work order systems
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts
- Physical ability to perform hands-on work and lift up to 50 lbs
Preferred:
- Technical or vocational certification in engineering, HVAC, or a related field
- Experience in a resort, hotel, hospitality, or commercial environment
- CMRP or CMRT certification
