The Cash Application Specialist is responsible for accurately and timely posting and reconciling client payments across multiple methods, including ACH, wire, check, and credit card transactions and supports daily cash operations.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate and timely posting of payments to client files, including ACH/wires, checks, and credit cards in accordance with accounting policies and procedures.
- Scan and prepare payment posting batches to GL/billing system.
- Prepare daily cash log for payments received by mail and EFT.
- Research payment issues and communicate with other departments for a resolution.
- Use external commercial and third-party web portals to research and identify payment allocation for partial payments by working professional.
- Work closely with AR on tracking payments and credits for reconciliations and refunds.
- Assist with tracking and reissuing uncleared checks.
- Assist with Special Projects as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Requirements:
- At least 2 years of cash posting experience required, preferably in a law firm or similar setting.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills for reconciliation and research.
- Ability to handle large volumes of data efficiently.
- Must have superior organizational skills to maintain consistent, accurate records.
- Effective verbal and written communication with clients, attorneys, and leadership.
- Knowledge of the terms and understanding associated with day-to-day functions of a cash poster.
- Must be friendly, professional, and cooperative with a good aptitude for customer service and problem solving.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
- Aderant software experience a plus.
