Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The position of Parks & Recreations Attendant is a vital role that provides exceptional customer service by greeting guests, taking payment for entry and concessions, preparing pre-packaged food orders, maintaining the cleanliness of entrance and concession, and ensuring facility rules and regulations are being followed by all guests. This position is scheduled to work interchangeably between the Landis Pool and Lake Corriher Wilderness Park. This position is designated as a non-essential position.


 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Greeting guest and maintaining a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.
  • Responsible for checking in pool guest/members and Lake Corriher Wilderness Park guest.
  • Collecting payments and fees for the pool and/or Lake Corriher Wilderness Park payments.  
  • Operating and balancing the cash register and filling out daily reports.
  • Handling pre-packaged food and drink items.
  • Re-stocking inventory.
  • Completing rental forms for camping reservations and kayaks. 
  • Maintaining and cleaning entrance and concession areas.
  • Enforcing facility rules and regulations.
  • Assist with kayak and paddleboat rentals.
  • Assist with loading and stacking firewood for campers.
  • Other required duties as assigned. 
Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:  

  • Must be 16 years of age or older.
  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
  • Prior customer service or cash handling experience preferred. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Physical work is generally performed in a variety of environments: office, interior operational settings, and multiple outdoor areas, experiencing occasional interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. Frequent walking, standing, climbing, lifting, stooping, or carrying of equipment and materials may be required. Candidate may be required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. The candidate will be working with and exposed to certain chemicals such as chlorine, sodium bicarbonate, calcium, algicides, pesticides, types of gasoline, paint, or other possible chemicals related to the job. The candidate will be working in a variety of elements, exposed to outdoor hot and cold temperatures, insects, and plants.

  

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license in the state of North Carolina or valid North Carolina ID card. 
  • Must be flexible with schedule and available to work: days, evenings, weekends, and holiday shifts. 
  • Possession of First Aid and CPR Certification.


DRUG TESTING: This position requires the employee to be subject to random drug testing as per the Town of Landis Policy.
