The Lube Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance services, including oil changes, fluid checks, tire replacement, filter changes, and basic inspections of vehicles. This role requires a strong understanding of vehicle systems, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate with service advisors. The technician must adhere to safety and compliance guidelines while ensuring high-quality customer service. Flexibility, teamwork, and the ability to work overtime, including Saturdays, are essential.
RESPONSIBILITIES (included but not limited to):
· Perform oil changes, tire replacement, and fluid checks.
· Replace air filters, cabin filters, and other basic vehicle components.
· Conduct tire repairs, rotations, and balancing.
· Perform wheel alignments and other routine maintenance tasks.
· Inspect vehicles for mechanical issues and recommend additional services if necessary.
· Use diagnostic equipment to assess vehicle performance and identify immediate issues.
· Ensure proper disposal of used fluids and adhere to safety and environmental protocols.
· Communicate any additional repairs or services required to service advisors.
· Maintain a clean and organized work area, including tools and equipment.
· Work as part of a team to ensure efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
· Able to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
· Capable of lifting automobile tires.
· Capable of maneuvering in and around vehicles, including under the hood and around the vehicle.
· Work in a shop environment, with exposure to outside weather and temperatures.
· Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and kneel as necessary.
· Standing for extended periods of time.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Automotive Trade School (preferred).
· Experience in an aftermarket tire and/or lube shop environment (e.g., Tire Kingdom, Jiffy Lube, etc.) (preferred).
· Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as an automotive technician or lube technician (preferred).
· Team-oriented, flexible, and focused on maintaining high-quality customer service.
· Ability to use diagnostic equipment and basic hand tools, such as wrenches, screwdrivers, and fluid dispensers.
· Good verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to explain mechanical diagnoses and required repairs to service advisors in a non-technical manner.
· Ability to follow established procedures, checklists, and safety guidelines.
· Willingness to comply with all company policies, including those related to safety, hazardous materials, and environmental regulations.
