Thermacell is a wholly owned subsidiary of a privately held global consumer products company and operated independently. Thermacell is home to 125+ full-time employees across three U.S. hubs — Bedford, MA (Corporate Headquarters), Buford, GA (Manufacturing & Distribution), and Hampton, FL (Science & Research Center) — and is expanding its footprint in the UK & Europe.


ROLE PURPOSE: 

Thermacell is seeking a new National Account Manager to profitably grow sales and energize our Sporting Goods, Hardware, Farm & Fleet, Food, & Military channels. Great role where you’ll get to lead the core channels where Thermacell began! You’ll get to re-envision how we invest time and resources to energize a #1 share brand! 


As the National Account Manager – this role will be responsible for delivering ‘best in class’ business management for all Thermacell products in the Sporting Goods Channel, including Bass Pro/Cabela’s, Academy Sports, and Dick’s Sporting Goods. The scope of this role includes managing the business plans and execution of Thermacell’s business. The role will have one Sales Manager Direct report as well as responsibility to manage and lead existing specialty National Broker Agencies who lead our business across Sporting Goods/Farm/Fleet, Hardware, and Military. The customer base ranges from independent retailers to national accounts. This role will be responsible for developing the overall business strategy for Sporting Goods, Hardware, Farm & Ranch, Military, and Meijer (directly selling to Meijer). You’ll proactively identify assortment opportunities, create promotions and off-shelf placements to drive sales. This role also includes establishing goals and expectations as well as selling directly to customers and leading a team of reps to drive the business. Strong verbal and written communication are key for managing objectives and expectations to team of independent reps. This role is also key as it informs Thermacell of outside opportunities and competitive threats through the sales process and internal collaboration.

The right candidate will come ready to lead and develop a Sales Manager, experience managing Sporting Goods Retailers and brokers, eagerness to learn, confidence to ask questions, and the organizational discipline to handle incoming requests and long-range deadlines in parallel. 


STATUS: Exempt

WORKING HOURS: Typically between 9-5pm M-F

WORK LOCATION: Remote position (ideally TX, IL, MO, FL, MA, GA, AL, KS, NC, SC) with up to 35% travel to our corporate office, retailer HQs and trade shows. Must be located near a major airport.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Experienced in Sporting Goods and understands what a ‘Plan to Win’ looks like with each customer. 
  • Develop and execute plans annually and achieve budget for revenue and margin. 
  • Own the evolution of the business within the Departmental goals and resources assigned. 
  • In collaboration with Sales Leadership, Sales Coordinator, Marketing, Customer Service, Finance, and Supply Chain, the role will work to enroll others, create distribution, display, and merchandising programs tailored to the channel needs of Sporting Goods, Hardware, Farm & Fleet, Meijer, and Military.    
  • Manage broker reps and distributors to sell Thermacell’s product portfolio.  Enroll each rep in our goals and manage as an extension of our sales team. This also includes management of one direct report.
  • Utilize data, facts and analysis to guide your recommendations and get others to align to final decisions. 
  • WIN each annual mosquito season (share gain, display gain, distribution gain, and revenue gain)
  • Own the outcome of, and manage preparation for customer meetings. 
  • Participate in monthly S&OP meetings. Collaborate with demand planner, building a product forecast. 
  • Create joint promotional plan with your retailers to drive sales and secondary placement of Thermacell. 
  • Educate the company on – Industry Trends, Competitive News and Insights. Act as our industry advisor.  
  • Participate in company brainstorming meetings utilizing your industry knowledge.

COMPENSATION


Base Salary Range: $122,000 - $163,000


Compensation for this position will include a competitive base salary and an Annual Target Bonus opportunity. Details provided separately.

Paid time off for this position will consist of accrued vacation at a competitive level, along with 11 Holidays and a day off for your Birthday! 40 hours of wellness time is also available on your first day of employment. Additionally, a company shutdown period is offered for one week between Christmas and New Year’s Day where the majority of business operations pause, and employees are encouraged to rest and recover together. Critical functions may require limited coverage to ensure business continuity.

Requirements

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Experience as the leading Sales Manager across the US Sporting Goods channel including the distributor networks is mandatory.
    • Customer examples: REI, Bass Pro/Cabela's, Academy, Dicks, Farm & Fleet, etc.
  • Total Sales Management experience 6-10+yrs with 4+ years in Sporting Goods. 
  • Direct managerial experience of brokers while managing customers and at least 1 direct report. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage customers directly and lead a business through brokers required.
  • Business plan leadership experience mandatory, building and executing the entire channel / territory plan.
  • Sales experience directly selling to a Retailer, to positions across the buying and merchandising function.
  • Makes data-based decisions, leverages POS, retailer, weather insights, etc. to validate business decisions. 
  • Confident and clear communicator with internal teams and external business partners. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant work experience 
  • Sound analytical and technical skills to gather and analyze large sets of data. 
  • Shows STRONG attention to detail and accuracy while working at a fast pace.  
  • Maintains a high degree of professionalism – can interface with all levels of the organization.  
  • Microsoft Office Suite  
  • Ability to travel up to 35% for retailer meetings and trade shows.
