POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for designing and developing new or existing company products to meet customer requirements and market demands. Works from specifications and instructions to create new components or redesign existing ones for improved performance and manufacturability. Oversees prototype assembly and testing, and collaborates with vendors for technical support.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Create new product designs and modifications based on customer requirements, market trends, and competitor analysis.
2. Determine feasibility of projects by forecasting costs, resources, and timelines.
3. Prepare engineering calculations, layouts, and specifications to support design decisions.
4. Oversee assembly and testing of prototypes to validate design performance.
5. Communicate with vendors to obtain technical information and ensure component compatibility.
6. Collaborate with internal teams, including manufacturing and quality, to ensure designs meet process capabilities and compliance standards.
7. Assist in project scheduling and follow-up to ensure timely completion.
8. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to product design.
9. Support development of engineering databases and information systems.
10. Participate in trade shows or customer visits to gather insights for new product development.
11. Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with all safety and company procedures, rules, and regulations to protect themselves and others from known and expected hazards including the use of appropriate PPE.
12. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
2. Experience with CAD software and design tools required.
3. Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and product testing preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Light to medium work, exerting up to 20 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally.
· Lifting, climbing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, pushing pulling, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, feeling, fingering, repetitive motions etc.
· Occasional overnight travel as needed.
