Job Description:
At First Stop Health we deliver healthcare that is affordable, engaging, and delightful. The Director of Product Design will be the tip of the spear in driving delight and engagement. This role will champion design thinking, product analytics, and user research as core practices that drive how we deliver care experiences across our market-facing product suite, comprised of Virtual Primary Care, Urgent Care, and Mental Health Care. You will lead a highly skilled team of Product Designers who operate embedded in scrum teams and elevate the voice of the user.
As the organization’s first senior design leader, you will establish the design discipline within our Product organization — defining standards, scaling systems, and building the culture that ensures every product decision reflects patient and provider needs. You will craft and champion the product design vision at First Stop Health, establishing philosophical principles to guide your team and broadcast to the market as our design ethos. You will cultivate deep empathy with our users through discovery and research, leading your team to establish foundational artifacts like user persona profiles, user journeys maps, user research repositories and insights libraries, and product analytics frameworks. You will establish, scale, and maintain a design system to accelerate frontend development and deliver best-in-class user experience. You will establish research protocols, including experimentation playbooks, design critique practices, and overall Product Design team operating processes and rituals.
You will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Clinical, Operations, Sales, and Marketing leaders, to ensure our product solutions are intuitive, consistent, data-informed, and impactful. You will serve as a thought partner to executive leadership and a highly visible leader internally, as well as an externally facing brand champion interfacing with clients, Customer Success, and the Sales team. This role reports to the SVP of Product.
Responsibilities:
Design Leadership & Vision

- Experience building and maintaining design systems in Figma is required.

- Partner with Product and Engineering teams to operationalize and scale product analytics tooling that strengthen decision-making. Familiarity with Heap and PowerBI preferred.
- Establish best practices for experimentation, measurement, and using data alongside qualitative insights to shape design and product choices.
User & Market Research
- Create a robust user research practice to uncover patient, provider, client, and internal stakeholder needs.
- Develop research frameworks for discovery, usability testing, and continuous feedback loops.
- Incorporate market insights to ensure product direction reflects both user needs and industry trends.
Team Building & Culture
- Recruit, manage, and develop a team of designers and researchers.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, and evidence-based decision-making.
